Guys my swift takes self for around 1.5 - 2 sec for cold starts. Always. Is it typical?
First start k baad it is always half self start.

The Battery is brand new. 3 months old.
I live in a bit colder environment as I am from Abbottabad. This could be a reason?

2016 auto. LM 5w30.
If I self for a sec, then leave and then immediately self start again it would start on half self. A vitz is also in the house and it literally cold starts on half self. I was wondering if its typical of swift or there is an issue.
A mechanic won't be able to diagnose it because it start on half self once warmed up.

Salam guys, I am going to buy the first car in the family and with a budget of around 1.6MiL against all recommendations of buying an Alto VXR I am leaning twards a used 2016/2015 swift.
Is this a wise decision? This will be my family's first ever auto experience, also I live in a remote village area and will be driving the car from village to city and city to village some times in a month.
Please advise

a brand new vehicle is far better then a 6 year old used vehicle.

1st car in family, in my opinion you shall prefer a brand new one.

@pwuser163204420176 I also agree with @capsat if you are going for first one always try to go with brand new so that you understand how engines change with time as well as its all by you in case if any wear and tear comes up you can see and understand what went wrong by doing what so if you can go for smaller car but go for new one.

If I crank for 2-3 seconds - stop midway before starting of the engine - self again then it starts on half self. Any further startups are always half self.
I tried, turn key on 5 sec let the fuel pump run, off - turn key on again and repeat 3-4 times before cranking, to test if the fuel is not building enough pressure but its same. First self is always 2-3 secs.
Is this serious or should I leave it be and live with it

Guys I recently bought a swift- 16, and I think there is no thermostat in it because,
1) The heater is not blowing hot air. both heater pipes are always on normal temp on touching.
2) On the highway, the temp needle stays around 1/3. In summer it was always in the center but as winter is coming and I belong to northern areas, now temps stays lower (1/3, ) because water is always circulating.

In city drive, however, it is always in middle and the fan turns on around 95 degrees (tested with obd). The fan is not direct and is on auto.
Maybe it has the thermostat and its just stuck open.

Now I visited Suzuki i9 3s and they quoted 5k labor for just installing the thermostat plus 5300 is the price of the OEM Thermostat.

I flushed the cooling system when I bought the car and switched to zic coolant (water was being used before).
The cooling system seems to be working up to the mark as I have taken the car everywhere, lots of highway travel around 130 km/h.

The radiator fan seems replaced but works flawlessly.

My guess is, as the thermostat is removed, means the car might have had severe heating issues in the past.

Now question is
Should I pay for that 5k labor for the thermostat installing and also get the cooling system thoroughly inspected by the dealership. My guess is the total expense will be around 20k keeping in mind if something else needs changing.

Or get the thermostat installed from outside (my mechanic will do it in maybe in 500 labor) and keep a close eye on temp for a couple of days using obd. I have bought the thermostat from 3s.

Buy the Original Thermostat from the market and get it installed from your mechanic. It's not a major job. Intake manifold will have to be removed.

Thanks for the clarification, I have bought the original thermostat. I just wasn't sure if it's worth paying 5k labor to the dealership to get it installed as the cooling system seems to work perfectly fine.

Is there any gasket or o ring required when installing the thermostat in swift? Because the new thermostat came without any such things. There is only a thermostat in the package.
