TATA NANO Allotments started.
h2First 100,000 Tata Nano Owners Selected: Tata/h2
The Tata Nano is something of an innovation for the Indian market and earlier we reported that the tiny rear-engine car had received over 2 lakh bookings. Now Tata announces that the company has selected the first 100,000 owners of the Tata Nano using a computerized system of random selection.
The booking process closed on April 25, 2009 and of the total number of applicants, about 67 percent chose the option to retain their booking amounts with the company even if they weren’t selected in the first 100,000. From the 137,587 who opted for this, allotments have been made for 55,021 retainees.
Tata will be individually informing each applicant as to which category they fall under, an allotee, an unsuccessful applicant or a retainee. Alternatively, eager applicants can enter their booking application number at the official website in order to find out their status.
Tata ensures that the first 100,000 selected owners will receive their Nanos at ex-showroom prices. With Nano deliveries scheduled to begin in July 2009, the first 100,000 cars are expected to be delivered by the last quarter of 2010. The 55,021 retainees will receive their cars after the first 100,000 deliveries.
