My Matrix of comparison is

a) Features
b) Fuel Economy
c) After sales Support
d) Reliability of parts

I do not consider resale value as I plan to keep it for a while neither I deem "a family" in near future so city being family car becomes pointless. Please compare on above mentioned parameters

city has trunk but dificult to repair if malfunctioned no DOHC engine

swift only lacks trunk it laso has abs engine immobilizer and what and wat not

These are just my observations or guesses as frankly I have not driven any of them

-Both cars have in same engine capacity (1.3), but different class
-Swift's engine is no where close to City in terms of latest technology (i-vtec).
-City is the most fuel efficient car in 1.3 category.
-Apparently Swift has advantage when it comes to power to weight ratio.
-Swift has alloys, fog lights, spoiler, bridgestone tires, City does not have

In the end if I have to chose, I will go for City with electronic auto transmission.

The best I expect from M13 of Swift is 13-14 and from City 16-17 city drive light foot. But EFi engines consume more fuel when pushed hard. The economy is best at light foot.

Both cars have a feature that I really like..

City has real time fuel consumption display, helps you drive economically.

Swift has immobilizer, a must have nowadays considering the number of cars being stolen.

A) both have almost same features. city has real time fuel display while swift has immobilizer.swift might have a little bit advantage because it has proper sized alloy rims and tires as stock. for city u need to change the tires, atleast.

B) City definately takes the lead here, no discussion needed

C) Aftersale support for city is certainly better then city, many many local mechanics know city very well, its also compatible with CNG, while swift;s M13A engine (as in liana) is not a very good reputed one and it may also develop issues if u plan to drive it on cng.

D) Yet again, City takes the lead because City is in pakistan since 1998, swift has just been launched, even a few authorized dealers dont have stock of its parts etc and u have to wait for a few days to get the desired parts.

Apart from all of this, the MOST important factor when buying a new car should be the Driving dynamics of it, like , how does a car feels to drive.thats what i base my decision on and i ve found that if u base ur decision on this, u never regret ur purchase even years after. and i can safely say that City drives much much better then swift.though i ve personally not driven swift (have driven city though) but friends who have tried both said that city feels much better while driving.its a proper "Driver's" car.so my vote is definately for city.

Sir, ur friends city either has an issue, he drives like super duper maniacs or it has less then 5000kms (running) on the odo.there can not be a 3rd reason. City is the car which takes lead in fuel economy in Pakistan. my friend's 2010 city (done 8000kms) gives 16-17km/l in city if driven with care, gives more then 20 on highway if rpm is kept below 3000. and hey, when i was doing 180km/h on it on motorway, it was still managing 10-11km/ltr ... what else do u want? swift can hardly get near that kinda figures.

Secondly, MPFI may be better then EFI but city has Vtec too, thats there to give excellent fuel economy while driving on lower RPMs. Another thing is that the real time fuel LCD display helps you a LOT to improve ur driving habits towards higher fuel economy.u always want to see more km/ltr so u drive slowly and before u know, u get habitual.

I also have doubts about the figure you provided. I heard city is 14-16 km/l with in city and higher on highways

I have to buy my first car and I ask your worthy suggestions on the said topic. I have seen both cars, tried to comprehend their differences. I want to get a Technical brief on critical topics. Like

for example some say the @ 73KW city is still underpowered and swift's 92hp engine outshines all others in its class.

Sir the City is very powerful, City M/T keeps up with my 05 CIVIC EXi PROSMATEC, no Suzuki can do that, whether it is Swift or even the 1.6L LIANA.

Comparing exterior (Lights, features like fog lamps, front grill, metal strength, design efficiency) does city has alloy rims? (2011 model)

City does not have fog lights or alloys

City has a much better crash safe and aerodynamic design (naturally more freedom because it is a sedan).

Interior (Some say the city's interior is a blow off whereas some find it point less. How does it compares to swift)

City's interior is nothing to write about but it is still better then both SWIFT and LIANA.

Performace of both in all drive conditions (Low and higher end rpms), top speed, acceleration etc.

Top speed and acceleration of City is more.

Due to small size Swift is more agile.

Value for money.

NOTE :- Please compare excluding resale value and hatch back @ 1300 factor as these are not an issue for me. I want some thing that looks stylish from the outside and promises the same excellence on road.

For me anytime swift over city.
pros:Sporty looks,better road grip,lots of goodies and features like alloys,bridgistone tyres,jvc with 4 speakers,better quality of door panels,immobilizer,keyless entry,fog lamps,better pick due to its power to weight ratio.

cons:a car with cheap S badge,no trunk , 1 million for a economy badge

No doubt swift has much better looks than city of fish shaped.
