The best thing to do in my opinion is not to stay at Astore, instead move to Rama meadows PTDC hotel, view is fabulous and accommodation is much better. As I did not have a booking at PTDC and it was peak of season so decided to stay at Astore. I spotted few other hotels at Astore, but did not go in to check rooms. But from outside they looked no different. At Rama meadows there is a PWD rest house as well, if I remember it correctly. You can get a booking there as well. I am not aware what the procedure will be. It takes 35-40 minutes to travel from Astore to Rama meadow.
The jeep driver was arranged by manager of Kamran hotel. I do not have his contact number, but I think it will not an issue to arrange a jeep from Astore. Have great trip and bring sweet memories
