From Babusar top to Chillas road is excellent but very steep, you lose height and good weather very quickly. The surrounding mountains are not as green as on the other side of the Babusar pass . By the time you reach Chillas , it becomes very hot and you are surrounded by bare mountains.

Now we were on KKH, heading towards Astore. The road condition on this part of KKH is not great, plenty of bad patches and going is slow. As you turn to Astore and leave KKH road becomes narrow and passes through gorge like valley, almost claustrophobic. Road is just tolerable for travel on car. We were able to reach our destination by about 4PM, and settled in Kamran hotel for night stay.

Astore town itself has nothing much to offer as far as scenic beauty is concerned. At Kamran hotel we paid 3200 Rs for night stay. I asked hotel manager to arrange a jeep for visit to Minimarg and Deosai. After an hour he told that jeep will be available tomorrow and cost will be 15K for two days. We had obtained a prior permission and booking at Minimarg through my brother in law who is an army officer. I instructed driver to be at the hotel by 8AM tomorrow. Next morning after breakfast we started off for Minimarg by 8.30 AM.As you leave Astore, the surrounding mountains become greener and valley wider and view beautiful. There is beautiful water stream that flows along the road with turquoise water, small village settlements and roadside mountains are covered with flowers as you reach Chillum chowki. At chowki we were halted by the army people to confirm our permission and booking. The road from Chillum to Minimarg is a jeep able tract but place of exquisite beauty. No settlements on the way, just Gujjars grazing their herds or army personnel. You cross Burzil pass to reach Minimarg.
