Branded UPS"s always break down. Plus they dont have any service, I am using a locally manufactured UPS for the past 5 years and it has been working like a charm. We have 2 units and require just change of battery water every one-Two months and battery replacement every 2 and a half years. The guy who installed it is a UET graduate and always comes personally if there is any problem, he is extremely courteous and does a wonderful job. i don't know whether its transformer based or not. No, there is hardly any fan noise. If we replace the batteries after every 2 and a half years, the speed of fans actually increases when the power supply shifts from WAPDA onto the UPS.

PS: I have no personal relations with the UPS guy, but because he has done such a good job i am recommending him to u guys.

your fans probably are new, otherwise I have checked Homage Matrix, Mercury Radiant and Local Made Mirco Tech Inverters. On switching, Fan make some noise, it was more in case of local made inverter while lesser on branded ones.

Volta or Luminous is my recommendation on personal experience. Nice UPS with good working. The 1.4KVA one is around 20K and requires two batteries (24 Volts).No issues so far in the last one year.

Homage, if you get the Chinese one because now there are alot of copies of it available in Market and its made in Karachi. We have been using it in our home and in 7 8 relative's home and we hadnt had a single problem. And it has been more than 5 or 6 years.

Fix your UPS Battery.

Don’t throw or sell your old UPS or Car batteries for few hundred when you have an option to restore.

UPS/Car battery performance decreases due to sulphation coating on lead plates. To desulfate a lead acid battery use ‘Battery Energizer’ liquid. It removes the sulphur deposits from lead plates and restores your battery like new. You can get Battery Energizer www.gobuy.pk, shipping is free all over Pakistan. I have tried this and it works and also very cheap in cost.

you dug a year old thread to promote some market item which cleans battery terminals . i give u a cheaper solution use hot water to clean and apply petroleum jelly or grease ... instead of few hundred this will cost less than one hundred

P.S. cleaning terminals doesn't restore a dead battery .. it is something u do in maintaining a battery

Either your batteries were not branded as labelled or were not Deep Cycle. Search for deep cycle lead acid batteries.

Dear it does not clean battery terminal, it removes sulphur deposits from plate inside battery. Search for 'Battery equalizer' on Google and see the product, it may also improve your knowledge about batteries and you can comment better. Thanks.

You guys have always help me in past and I am posting this thread in hope that I will be able to make a good deal, that I wont have to regret. I am from Karachi and there is power break down for at least 6 hours (2 hours scheduled) per day, in my area.

So I need a UPS and battery to use for a computer, an energy saver and one fan, sufficient enough for at least 2 hours.

If you are currently using a UPS for home, please answer following questions:
