I know this thread is quite old..but if someone is reading...then i will tell them....first of all i am electrical engineering student..and let me tell you guys....APC or sinewave based ups is far better then these hommade ups (desi ups)...overcharging kills ur battery....and also Sinwave based ups are more intelligent....They can be repaired(in-case they are damaged)obiviously they are more complicated..but there are some guys in market who can do it..if u want long lasting UPS then buy 24volt sinwave based ups(good quality) and 2 140 amp exide battries..it will last more then 2 years..i know bcz i have one.... I am using Allied power...they are rare but i got it from fathers friend he makes them from chaina and supplies them to afghanistan..i think homage will do it too...

Dear Fellow Pakwheelers,

Its a pleasant surprise to see so much eager Renewable energy enthusiasts among us. When it comes to Solar, DIY works out for smaller systems, but it is be my humble request you make sure that your systems are being handled/designed by thorough professionals.

Infini input voltage DC side is upto 450Vdc which is a lot more than the fatal limit of >100Vdc.

Please feel free to ask if you have any kind of queries or technical questions regarding application and design of solar systems....

5-6kw in solar panel rated capacity will produce a total in excess of 500kwh of DC power every month.

Batteries are not economical. So I suggest day time on solar+wapda , night time on wapda alone.

I have installed a 3000 watts Solar system at my home. Its totally a DIY as I am electrical engineer. I am using Sharp Thin film japan made PV, Voltronics Infini 3KW Hybrid Inverter with grid tie feature and normal acid batteries 200A Exide. Nizam Solar is good but their response over queries and technical support is not up to the mark. Its better to do DIY and I will help you on each and every step for free Cost for Solar panels (170 rs per watt) 2420 Watts = 411,400 Rs..... Inverter 135,000 for 3KW and 4 Acid batteries 300A are for 60,000 (15,000 Each) or Sealed for 54,000 each. Other expense for wires, Solar panel and battery bank stand etc. One more thing which need to get notice that in extreme temperature like 40 degree Celsius Chinese panels loose their efficiency. Thin film is new technology and Sharp is offering 25 years warranty for 80% efficiency. Also thin film can work -40 degree Celsius to +90. And second option which is highly recommended is use as Hybrid solution. Just install a 2000 Watts system with 200A batteries and 2KW inverter. When ever you have lack of power from Solar or batteries you inverter will manage power from Grid.

exactly where did you buy all the stuff? also did you get warranties for the inverter? i this this is a pure sine wave inverter with plenty of features..

From 7am to 7 pm we 3 hour power outage. However from 7pm to 7 am we have 5-6 hour outage. So I think I really need a bigger battery bank to run load at least 1000w at night

Hybrid Solar system works as UPS at night and solar power day time. I am looking to place big battery bank about 8 batteries of 150amps.

All I want to know how the regular acid batteries will do with solar system.

The Solar system for residential load is designed according to the following parameters:

Type of appliances ( Inverter ACs, fans, fridges, freezers and Etc ).
Quantity of each appliance
Approximate Operating duration of appliances per day.

In order to make the system cost effective and realistic in terms of initial capital, i would request your to list down your priority load which you wish to run on solar. Shifting all load like microwaves,iron, all ACs, water pumps is not feasible both with design and cost perspective.

Infini inverter can handle 4100 Watts of panels (20 panels for 205 Watt each) Or 3000 Watts of panels (12 panels for 300 Watt each) depending upon the current ratings. Infini with maximum connected panels will generate 350 KWh to 400 KWh approx.

Running all load day and night without WAPDA/GRID is not recommended because this will require a huge battery bank which means it will increase your capital cost as well as your replacement cost.

To make your design effective, i recommend you to please share your Load Profile, which you intend to run on Solar Energy.

I will be able to quote any price after knowing your load details and requirement. And go for installing (Inverter type ACs) for your house as they can easily be run of Solar systems and takes almost half power then conventional Split ACs even when running on WAPDA/GRID
