I have an external charger but I am hesitant to connect both charger and UPS to the battery, could this cause the UPS or the charger to malfunction, since both are trying to charge the batteries at the same time. Secondly, I am unsure what effect will the charger have on the UPS and vice versa considering that fact that both are automatic chargers. I would appreciate if you can shed some light on this.

Normally we dont recommend external charger cuz its internal charger is good enuf to charge ur batteries upto 165 ah in case of APC 1.5 KVA and 135Ah in case of 2.2 and 3 KVA.

Extrnal charger sumtimes damages the UPS as well as batteries .......

Hi,

I have decided to purchase a Sinewave UPS Rating 3KVA and came across some people selling used APC smart UPS. Any body having any experience with used APC UPS, your feedback would be highly appreciated.
I am well aware of APC's remarkable reputation but used goods market in our country is pretty dodgy. My second choice is Twister Power Bank Twister. I was going to go for Prodigy UPS, Local brand with office at Walton Road Lahore cantt but the response from those guys was oathetic so i decided against it.

First ov all APC is a pure sinewave topology UPS and secondly its much much better than pak cheen and local made UPS. It has an automatic charger and its hi builtin stabilizer and the main thing is that u can run ur tv laptop lite fan or ny expensive appliance with it without ny fear ov damage......

Dear forum member please recommend where in lahore or ISB/RWP should i buy a used APC XL series UPS from? The capacity should be roughly 1500VA. I prefer XL series because of the good quality chargers for external batteries. Also what do you guys think would be the approximate price for it?

Bro visit misri shah lahore u will find malaysian made used ( almost brand new) apc ups they are all lot ka maal

always buy APC or any other branded UPS from a person / dealer / company / shookeeper who nos abut that particular item. cuz wot if sum thing hapens to the ups after sumtimes .... ll u again visit their n create a fuss ..... it better to buy from sumone ho gives u sum warranty has a full sales n service support .......

Still APC is a reliable brand. Is it not? However one has to stay away from the locally repaired APC models i guess.

always go for the new models ov the apc ups . for e.g in 1 kva one model is su1000 / 650watts / 4 ouput ports n other is SUA100i / 670watts / 8 output ports ........ 1.4 kva is very older model n 1.5 kva is newer ones ...... older models were white in colour while new ones are black ......

one more thing before takin back the ups with your after buyin ......... do make them open the upper casin so dat u cud b able to c whether the board is repaired one or not

AoA , respected members as I'm planning to buy a new ups for my home ; i went through almost all the threads here regarding UPS, but till not clear ; I just want you people to help me making this choice , as the season is coming , it might be helpful for many others too , thanking you all in highest anticipation ! i want to buy new ups but i am little confuse which is better Aurora or Homage or Apollo in ma sa kn sa better hai jo k batry ko over charging na karay and over loading pa band ho jaye. and for battery some one told me to buy loacal made battry kia wo theek hoti hein..

You should buy APC UPS. Its pure sine wave with built in stabilizer n tranformer .. it gives exact 220/ 230 volt to ur equipments ... automatic charger and overcharging is out of question and yes it will trip on overloading ..... wot 2 kva ov homage etc runs ur loads is equal to 1 kva of APC.

Thankyou for your post because I was going to buy HOMEAGE UPS next week. Reason, I have the same problem with my AGS Battery (11 months old) with 1000watt DESI ups. Surfing the net I got the problem as "Sulfation of Battery" you can read it in detail from the net. The only way to recover the battery is "PULSE CHARGING". I did not figure any charger in this category in Pakistan. I was thinking that good ups can solve the problem (Did not work in your case). One way is to use solar charging with "PMW" charge controller. I am working on it update you about the progress if any. What I did urgently is increase the charging from ups settings and battery show a little bit recovery.

Go for APC UPS. Autmomatic charger ... 220 volts fix ....... pure sinewave ....... built in stabilizer ...... heavy copper transformer .

I have a APC 3 kVA UPS.. This is a 48 Volt UPS so I have 4x 148 ah Exide batteries.

Batteries are about six months old and are getting drained quite quickly now..
I doubt that they need replacement, but what can I do to confirm?

Would the acid mixture 'replacement' be of any help?

The UPS needs a thoro calibration ..........

I did a little research some time ago, and the result I reached on was that no 12V UPS no matter how good can give you a pure sine wave. You need a 24V UPS for pure sine wave. Anyways, thanks for sharing stuff here. Loadshedding has really made life a mess

Pure sine wave UPS are always a better choice for ur home appliances ...... APC UPSs are one of the example for this ... their all ratings are pure sine wave . fix 220 volt ..... buit in stabilizer ....... automatic charger ( never ever over charge the batteries )

I got EcoStar UPS 1.5kva/1200 watts ... worked fine one day then ... when power went out second time... ups started tripping after five or so beeps and then restart then beep then restart again... may be this was just one bad piece I do not know that ...

Any how DWP customer care was good they accepted the return and refunded full amount.

So people who ever purchased what ever full sine UPS please share their feedback also from time to time

Bro i am using apc ups since last 5 years. Apc is the best ups among all ups that u mentioned above. Its pure sine wave and american ups.

Every chinese UPS has a transformer. The only difference in weight due to transformer size. In chinese UPS, the frequency is made high (in KHz range) so the tranformer size reduces drastically.

all ups with out transformer is termed as high frequency UPS ..... its an internationallt recognised term for with n without tranformer based UPS .......

If your LCD has an external power supply/brick, it is fine. Internal, then forget it. You will end up with a huge bill sooner or later. One of my friend earns his bread and butter (also owns the shop) by fixing electrical appliances and mostly, big LCD's are there with a fault in there power unit/supply.

Always use pure sine wave ups with ur non inductive load ....... local n pak cheen dosti ups are better off with ur inductive load only ( lights , fans )

I was just wondering how can we test a UPS/Generator output to see if its a pure sine wave or not?
I dont think anybody has an oscilloscope at home, so is there a shortcut method?

if you fan produces noise on battery mode thn its ovius tht the ups is a modified sine wave ups .... a pure sine wave ups has a fix output i.e 220 volt / 230 volt ..... so the speed ll same the all time wen therez no lite ........

A simple test for UPS is power factor, it is 0.6 for modified sine wave and 0.8 for sin wave
if UPS is 1 kva and output is 600-660 Watts then it is modified sine wave and
if UPS is 1 kva and output is 800 Watts then it is sine wave

this what I learn from experience

APC 1 KVA is 670 watt but its a pure sine wave UPS without a doubt ..... in my 15 years career i never seen any ups of 1 kva with gives 800 watts .. even the online double conversion pure sine wave topology UPS gives 700 watts in case ov 1 kva ...... 0.8 and 0.9 power factors comes only in online but in hi rating ups ..........
