Are you sure the engine doesn't power the wheels at all? It's a 200bhp 1.5L turbo charged engine. They need that engine just to charge the battery?

100% confirm.
In EREV, the engine works as a generator to charge the battery only. It doesn't power the wheels. The power train works exactly like any pure EV where the electric motor turn the wheels.

Range extender

It's an interesting concept and useful who travel on long where charging stations are not present but what to enjoy the performance of EVs

Looking at its specs. 200bhp and 340nm torque and 1100km of range. You then have a Haval H6 PHEV with the same range but 300+ bhp and 700+nm torque.

This needs to be priced at 1cr max for it to have any value proposition.

CSM has priced Riddara RD6 very competitively. I hope they will price Forthing Friday in a good bracket.
Forthing is a Dongfeng Fengxing product.

Explaining for those who don't know about Riddara.
Riddara RD6 is the bestseller EV truck in Chinese market, and it's a Geely product which is the 2nd biggest NEV maker in China after BYD. Zeekr vehicles will also be launched by CSM in Pakistan. Zeekr is a premium EV brand of Geely like BYD have Yangwang, and Denza.

But the battery bank difference is huge.
And battery cost will be the biggest differentiator. I don't think this will be under 17mil

H6 PHEV comes with a 35kwh or 27kwh battery. Friday REEV comes with a 31kwh battery.

Master Changan will soon launch a CKD EREV of some model. The rumors are EREV version of Deepal S07 but not confirmed yet.
Hunter PHEV truck, and Alsvin facelift coming soon.

The market is getting excited. I would suggest to wait for all the launches before booking any PHEV or EREV.

Master Changan or Master Chery?

Would be odd to partner with Chery New Energy and not launch any model while adding another variant of the S07.

S07 hasn't exactly been that popular on the roads despite it's price cut. I see one maybe once a week at most. I don't think it's range is the issue.

Edit: Though if you think about it, it would be hard to bring a distinctive product with Chery apart from their A-segment EV hatchbacks or sedans. I think most of their SUV line would be covered by Omoda, Jaecoo and Jetour, all of which already rebadge Chery products.

Deepal is a Changan product so Master Changan is launching it.

S07 is a CBU. Very less products gets successful in CBU form due to high pricing no matter how good they are. Also 1.5+ crore segment have very less number of buyers. Current variant of S07 is EV only.

So what's different now? A CKD is coming so we can expect good pricing specially due to rising competition in PHEV and EREV segment. Second, it will be an EREV unlike EV where people are hesitant to buy due to slow growing charging infrastructure.

I think it can give tough competition if it's priced right hence I suggested to wait and see what everyone launches (Sazgar, CSM, Master).

One of the management employee of Master Group confirmed this news. He didn't give any further details.

Hyundai benchmarks Xiaomi SU7 at R&D centers in Korea, report says

Hyundai Motor has added the Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle to its internal research fleet in South Korea, according to a report by Korean tech outlet Bloter published on July 17. The cars are being used for evaluation at Hyundai’s Namyang R&D Centre in Hwaseong and the company’s headquarters in Seoul.

A Xiaomi SU7 Max was seen on July 16 being transported to Hyundai’s Yangjae office in Seoul. The vehicle carried a temporary license plate issued by the Seocho District Office, and Bloter confirmed that Hyundai received formal approval for temporary operation for research purposes.
