Well if the Hummer EV doesn't do it then have a look at the Rivian. Compared to a Raptor it performs terribly off road as well. He also brings up an important point regarding torque and power distribution. These quad motor EVs have 800bhp, but it's more like 200bhp per wheel only. So if you're stuck and relying on 1 or 2 tyres, you're only getting 1/4 or 1/2 the power. That's not the case with ICE where 100% of the power can go to an individual wheel or axle.

Of course all of this is in theory since EV off roading isn't possible in Pakistan and will never be.

I think they got it mixed up between the BEV and Range extender version . The BEV range 600 KM （CLTC）with 85.9(Kwh) Battery capacity

Even then 600km seems exaggerated.
More realistic would be 350km or 400 if you stretch too much with no ac:heating.

Too much incorrect information regarding Forthing Friday. Here's the data from official spec sheet

Claimed range for 64.4 kWh battery pack EV is 500 km CLTC which roughly translates to
482 km NEDC
410 km WLTP
351 km EPA

For EREV or REEV (whatever you want to call it), the claimed range 1150 km CLTC is combined range of full charge of battery + full tank of fuel.

1109 km NEDC
943 km WLTP
807 km EPA

So in Pakistan they are bringing the smaller battery pack range for BEV version 64.4 kWh vs 85.9 for UAE and other international market. Smaller battery pack lower the cost the battery pack accounts for roughly 15% to 25% of the vehicle's total cost.

Sales of EV motorbikes surge despite infrastructural challenges

EV motorbike sales in Pakistan have jumped to 57,800 units in 2025, with expectations to reach 100,000 by year-end

Despite challenges in road infrastructure, sales of Electric Vehicle (EV) motorbikes have seen remarkable growth across all social segments in Pakistan. According to local market sources reported by the Business Recorder, approximately 15,000 units were sold in a single month (July 2025) by around 45 two-wheeler companies. This surge is supported by both provincial and federal government initiatives aimed at promoting EVs and reducing environmental pollution.

EV sales have risen sharply over the past few years. In 2022, only 2,000 units were sold, while 6,000 units were sold in 2023. By 2024, this number reached 33,000, and in the first seven months of 2025 alone, 57,800 units have been sold. Industry insiders predict that the total number of EV motorbike sales could hit 100,000 by the end of the year.

As a result, manufacturers have ramped up production, with monthly output reaching 7,000 units since January 2025. Leading brands such as Evee, Metro, and Vlektraare have introduced various models equipped with advanced features, including anti-theft alarms, safety breakers, tubeless tires, and motor and battery warranties to attract customers.

800km is what you expect a normal hybrid car to do. H6 HEV can achieve this easily. So why would someone buy this unknown brand car in the same price range?

Same question as @darthvader - hybrids and PHEVs can do the same. Question then becomes of cost . Which is cheaper to drive 800km? This REEV, PHEV or hybrid ?

Answer might be:
if you got enough solar at home to daily charge the REEV, it will save significant amount in fuel at least in city drives.. in long journeys it might be more expensive than a normal hybrid if public charging needed.

P.S Chinese vehicles really need to stop advertising ridiculous numbers like 1100km+ like they’re doing for this REEV .

So the real advantage of REEV is the fact that the engine runs at a very consistent speed and does not kick on until the range is about to be depleted. Furthermore this should reduce any kind of engine vibrations felt from hybrids while allowing you to drive something that feels fully electric.

I'm not trying to say that one should buy a REEV, I'm just trying to list its purpose.

Which is cheaper to drive 800km? This REEV, PHEV or hybrid ?

Totally situational on what would be cheaper. If you need to drive long distances, highways/motorways, then a simple HEV vehicle would benefit the most because the engine gets support from the batteries and it has the least extra weight. If we're talking about bumper to bumper traffic then the REEV and PHEV will be able to win out with their fully electric drive, but a REEV would have a bigger battery than a PHEV so that would win. Electric cars should be cheaper to drive even without solar when charged at home (not done any calculations, please correct me if wrong).

When looking at the values that @ifadey posted;
battery+ fuel 807 km EPA - 351 km EPA battery = 456 km EPA fuel
approx 456 km over a 43L tank should net you around 10.8 km/l

That does sound quite low; meaning that to get a cost benefit one should really only charge at home and try to fully run off the battery.

New Chinese EV maker enters Pakistan

Punjab is set to welcome a new wave of industrial investment as China's Letin Auto Group has announced plans to set up a small electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in the province.

A 15-member delegation of the company, led by its General Manager Xu Zhen, met with Punjab's Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain in Lahore to discuss details of the project and the potential incentives available.

The minister assured the delegation of full support from the provincial government and said Punjab was offering attractive facilities to investors, including a 10-year income tax holiday and duty-free import of machinery for plants being set up in the Special Economic Zones.
In 2023, the group, with its trading name Levdeo Automobile Group, applied for bankruptcy in China and completed its bankruptcy reorganisation in 2024. Auto sector experts believe that the group may want to relocate and make Pakistan its base for local sales and exports, since Pakistan, particularly Punjab, is offering decent incentives and has won the least US tariff of 19%.

Analysts also point out that Pakistan's EV policy has given a significant push to this momentum. Reduced customs duties on EV parts and favourable tariff structures have already encouraged imports, but local assembly and manufacturing is the next step. If companies like Letin Auto move ahead with their projects, it will not only help reduce reliance on imports but also support the development of an entire supply chain, including battery and component industries.

Chinese company to build $1bn lithium battery plant in Oman

A Chinese company is set to build a $1 billion lithium battery plant in Oman, a move that underscores China’s growing footprint in the Middle East’s clean energy supply chain and Oman’s ambition to become a key regional hub for green technology.

The agreement was signed between Oman’s Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and Chinese manufacturer GCL Technology Holdings. The facility will be situated in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, one of the Arabian Gulf’s fastest-growing industrial hubs, offering direct access to shipping routes and global markets.

The project is expected to have an annual production capacity of 25 gigawatt-hours. It will manufacture lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are widely used in electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems, and renewable energy applications. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, with initial production set to commence by 2027.

Oman, which has historically relied on hydrocarbons for its revenue, is accelerating its Vision 2040 economic diversification plan, targeting growth in renewables, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.

“This investment reflects Oman’s commitment to building a sustainable industrial future,” said a senior OPAZ official in a statement. “It positions the sultanate as a key player in the energy transition across the Middle East and Africa.”

China is the world’s largest producer of lithium batteries and has been aggressively expanding its overseas presence in recent years, particularly in strategic locations that can serve emerging markets. Duqm offers proximity to both African and South Asian markets, which are forecast to see rising demand for electric mobility and grid-scale storage.

Has unibody frame and not for off-roading either.
Slow acceleration for an EV above 7 seconds (which they call “extreme acceleration”).

385 CLTC range so let’s assume significantly low in reality maybe ?

It's mostly urban and rural driving - not off-roading - despite their claims. This is what 99% of pickup trucks in Pakistan are used for anyways so not really a problem.

In that use case, you get a much more comfortable ride because of being built on a crossover platform vs a ladder-frame like a regular truck.

Also, where are you getting the range figures from? The specs I had seen earlier for the Pakistani variants all had the 73 kWh battery pack except the top of the line variant which had the 86 kWh pack.

Claimed ranges for all of them were 420km or above on the NEDC cycle, which is good for a 4WD EV truck with a battery on the smaller side. Top variant also had like sub 5-second 0-100 km/h acceleration.

Not sure if they'd end up launching all 4 variants here in Pakistan though and the price they settle on for each because that's what would make it or break it.
