Yes. Custom duties are very high on this to import at this time.

Yup, Saw one listed for 60 lakh. Absurd price. Hopefully in future some new Ev policy can relax duties on such good and small family cars.

That too for an accidental piece. A high grade car would cost much more. Hoping custom duties are relaxed for <50KW cars.

That's right, Don't understand what the policy makers want. Seems the only goal is to get more money in any way, shape or form from people. No one looks at the bigger picture. Tbh in Pakistan electric cars don't make much difference to the resources of the country. This is because be generale electricity through fuel.

I see electric vehicles great for city driving where you waste a lot of fuel idling in stop n go traffic. Or they are excellent for short trips like getting grocery or pick n drop kids from school. They can replace small vehicles like Alto.

I agree to this point but on the other hand, electric vehicles require very less routine maintenance which is headache and heavy on pocket. Apart from that, majority of upper middle class is moving to solar energy, so they can use them at no cost.

Yes bikes make more sense. I think it's about how much money you can expend to enjoy an electric experience. In my view if someone spends 60 lack on electric car, how many years of travelling will save him that amount in fuel costs? Just not a very good feasibility on that. Bikes can cover the initial investment easily. Rest is for the rich.

I don't think small EVs can replace Altos due to shear price difference. And yes who ever can afford EVs can use them and charge them with solar although battery replacement costs are high and most people sell at the time of replacement.

I think the concept of using EV to save fuel cost is WRONG. The real reason why EU and west is moving to EV is to reduce carbon emission. So charging EVs from solar/wind makes sense there. Here in PK we look at EV to save fuel which is not correct.

The Hyper SSR electric sports car by GAC goes on sale in China. Revealed last year, the SSR boasts a staggering 1,224 hp of power, an impressive **506 km of driving range, and a 0 to 100 acceleration time of just 1.9 seconds.**

At first, Hyper was a line of automobiles sold under the GAC Aion name. Later, it evolved into a standalone brand to emphasize its high-end market positioning. The Hyper model line comprises two models, GT and SSR.

In terms of performance, the Hyper SSR boasts an all-wheel drive system with a combined power output of 900 kW (1,224 hp) and 1,230 Nm. The base variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds while the top trim accelerates from a standstill to 100 km per hour in just 1.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically restricted to 250 km/h. The SSR’s battery is ternary (NMC) and has a capacity of 74.69 kWh. On a single charge, it can travel up to 506 kilometers (CLTC).

The Hyper SSR is available in three trim levels. The entry-level variant of Hyper SSR costs 1,286,000 yuan ($176,400), then the Hyper SSR Speed Version is available for 1,386,000 yuan ($190,100). Don't mean to argue brother but the production of batteries is a highly toxic and energy consuming process. The supply chain is highly unethical as well. so, this argument for use of EVs to conserve environment is also a half truth.
For one ev to comply eliminate its own carbon footprint take 8 years and until then it's time to replace batteries again. There is also a question of limited reserves of raw materials for production of EVs.
the whole EV industry is built on the proposition that people will start to recycle batteries and that's how it may be feasible to switch to ev from fossil fuels. Recycling of 45-55% of batteries is needed to supply everyone in need of EV which currently stands at 5%. It's mostly about the energy war not saving the environment. One may disagree from my pov. Just my take on the matter keeping in mind all facts.

You are right to a certain degree but the combustion is then a localized scenario where the energy generation is taking place. CO2 collectors and the pollution caused could be controlled in an area(generation) but not in the whole world's atmosphere where cars are burning fossil fuels in every corner of every street. The models at TU Munich shows EVs could reduce CO2 emissions by four folds also because the grid is now fed with more renewables and forecasted to grow at much faster pace.
