TATA Motors recently unveiled the EV version of their popular SUV the Harrier which is expected to go on sale in the second half of this year.

This is the first Indian car maker to up the ante in domestic EV market by showcasing a full size car in EV mode instead of a compact hatch or SUV which is the norm.

TATA Motors has dropped the price of it's smallest EV hatch the Tiago to 7.99 lacs ex-showroom to encourage first time buyers to consider EV option. Ofcourse, the top spec petrol Tiago comes in under the base EV Tiago price.

Future Outlook

With refurbishment work almost completed at its plant with jigs & fixtures of KIA corporation arrived at the port, KIA is expected to instigate its operating activities with the plan to launch KIA Shehzore in 2024. The company is also planning to launch electric cars in coordination with renowned worldwide companies. This will enable the company to revive its sales volume, pay off its liabilities, and result in improvement in its bottom line.

What is its range?

Anything less than 900km single charge and I won’t be impressed for a truck or inter city travel.

Range is not an issue in countries with good charging infrastructure. Just like we don't think about range of ICE vehicles.

The target market for this truck is different. So it doesn't make sense to fit every EV in Pakistani market.

As far as technology is concerned, that range will soon be possible with BYD's new blade 2.0 battery pack. But I am not sure which new vehicles will have blade 2.0 this year. It's considered as breakthrough with LFP batteries because previously it was considered possible with solid state batteries.

Even in those countries people still are complaining about not good enough charging infrastructure similar to ICE.

Gonna take some time for developed countries to embrace EV for long travels.

Majority of those complaining on social media are those who never owned EV. Americans are the most illiterate in case of EVs. Europeans and Chinese understand this technology better.

All modern EVs now show nearest charging stations with details whether they are in working condition and what charging speed they have.

20-80 percent charging time these days is 15~20 min. In my experience, I spend 30 min when I take a break on motorways.

The issue isn't only of availability, but capacity as well. When you're stopping at the Motorway, you're generally also grabbing something to eat or drink or use the restroom etc. where you have ample space.

But to to stop and charge your vehicle for 20 minutes, you also need an available spot at the charger. Consider a spot like Bhera which usually has a 100+ vehicles stopped there most of the time. You will need a lot of charging bays even if a fraction of the market converts to EVs. Otherwise, you'd be waiting for longer than 20 minutes for your turn as well.

True, but that shouldn't be an issue in a country where infrastructure is mature. In such a place, usually range anxiety is not an issue and if you find a station occupied, you can move towards the next.

I have read the EV policy that was made during PTI's tenure. It's very good policy, but alas I don't see the implementation.
Here's what the policy says about charging stations.

"DC fast chargers will be installed along major motorways
and highways after every 15-30 km. Initially, the chargers will be
installed at each rest area along the highway N5 and motorways M1, M2,
M3, M4, M5 and M9, while the infrastructure will further be extended to
the rest of the motorways and highways in the country."

Imagine this scenario now, the issue you mentioned is solved.
