We attempted a tire swap, but these independent suspension cars don't seem to have holes in the centre of the rims

Anyways, the Kaikra finished its first tour of duty on the old 215 / 225 tire combo. Short drive to Brahma Bahtar / Taxila and back. Interesting driving with a 200 kg load on the dala, even more interesting was the difference when dropped it in 4wd.

Funny thing was when getting onto the motorway from Bahtar, the guy at the toll booth looked at the car and did not feel the need to give us a card. I had to ask him for one and he reconfirmed that I needed it before handing one to me. It took me some time to put two and two together: Atomic Energy auctioned Hilux getting on M1 at Bahtar which is just a few kms from some highly restricted access facilities. Kakra seems to have free motorway access at least getting on and off at this interchange!

02 is a tiger, came with the 1kd... @hayzin, just to build up on what suhaibs put up and whatever little (read a lot) ive researched for my own desert bashing lux, i'd say go for the 1uz conversion, pound for pound the Uzi is more bang for buck, its lighter and much much more powerful... if youve driven one of these 5vz 3rd gen surfs you'll know what i'm talking about. The 5vz is a nice engine but needs to be revved hard to get it to perform...just doesnt feel like it has the torque...feels very limp after a 1kd. Any 1uz and the relatively rare but more powerful 3uz would be my choices for a conversion.... my two cents

When we're talking about the 1UZ Vs the 3UZ, it's pertinent to note that the 3UZ offers 10 additional lb-ft of torque over the VVTi 1UZ, but is close to double the price. To my mind, that simply doesn't make sense (other than for the SAKE of those additional 10 lb-ft, of course). The 1UZ gives THE most bang for the buck, out there. Bar none. And believe me when I say this: bar NONE. With the price difference between the Quad Cam 32 Valve 1UZ, and the VVTi 1UZ, having come down to next to nothing, I'd suggest the latter rather than the former.

3 to 5 years from now, I have no doubt that the 3UZ will rule the roost. For now though, the 1UZ is simply incomparable for high speed, high torque, high rev applications.

Great Idea again,,, guess we should try to fix Evo's Genuine Radiator in Kiakra after the necessary Kannt Chant in front. The performance radiator of Evo may be retained for my other Evo or 2JZ wali Evo if needed.

Had a fun filled Saturday afternoon in Rawalpindi with Suhaib Kiani, Nashit, Akif and Farooq. Tested Kaikra for the first time since its 1UZ transplant. Newly installed power steering worked perfectly. Newly installed front disk brakes were fine too. Engine had a lot of power and it felt smooth. Being a project vehicle, surely there needs to be a few minor adjustments here and there, definitely better tyres, shocks and stuff,,, but Kaikra had a lot of power and am fully convinced that it will make a great off and on road vehicle,,, Insha Allah.
