Thanks for sharing. The bright star on the top-left in the second shot is Sirius, the sky's brightest star.

Wanna have your first look through a telescope? Come to the PIA planetarium today (Sunday 4th) at 6:30 Insha Allah. There are no entry charges. You can tell the astronomers there that you were invited by Zain. I myself have a commitment so won't be there today, but my friends will Insha Allah be. Everyone at PakWheels is welcome to join in.

A friend had his Valima in Mirpurkhas today and I was invited. But as soon as I stepped inside my home at 7:45 tonight, I knew what I'd do. Within twenty minutes, I was back outside. Around 9pm, I was at the PIA planetarium. Fellow astronomers had done a wonderful job and the response from the public (100+ folks) made the event a real success. Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn and the Orion Nebula had been the prime targets.

After I arrived at the scene, I took some questions and did some quick briefing before we slewed the 5" Goto telescope to the 37 Cluster. Viola!

This was the first time any of us saw the cluster. Note that this is not a line of sight alignment of vastly spaced stars. This is a true cluster.

very nice thread.found it through google.glad to see so many people interested in amateur astronomy.following are some pictures that i have managed relating astronomy.my equipment is a Rebel XS DSLR ,Canon 50mm and 15mm fisheyelense.location was 100km outside lahore near motorway.sky was clear,milkyway trail was visible but there was some light pollution cause of motorway lights and even the smallest light source can be a big hurdle in the way of light comming from distant objects in the space.

This is the galactic center of our galaxy milkyway rising over the horizon.stars such as altair,tarazed and vega are amongst the other stars.

in the following shot andromeda galaxy is clearly visiblle.andromeda galaxy is the closest galaxy to out galaxy the milkyway and consists up of billions of stars and planets.

following picture has a part of milkyway galaxy trail cause its taken with 50mm lense which is a more zoomed in than 15 mml lense.
the brightest star is altair followed by tarazed on the right.

the line u see in the picture is the internation space station.in the background is the galactic center of our galaxy.
as the shutter of the camera remains open the light from the international space station makes a line cause it is moving in orbit of the earth.
