Damn, nick! How did I miss this thread for months!? I did my UG in Coimbatore, and used to visit ooty or conoor at least once every month for a hot cup of tea. 
These pics brought back many fond memories. Next time you are in Nilgiris, I recommend you two not so conventional locations.
Catherine falls- You need to take the Kothagiri route instead of Conoor. Its easy to miss as you have to take a sudden left and drive through a residential area, trek through a tea estate, and climb down some rocks to see it. But you won't regret the falls and the small pond it forms.
Pine forest- its en route to Pykara and in the middle of no where. You need to walk through some boring high pine trees. There is a lake with kinda crystal blue water(depends on the sun)in the middle, surrounded by tall trees and mountains at back drop. Its fairly isolated from tourists, and locals alike. But it will whoop ooty lake's butt anyday.
