This is a beautiful shade of khaki...close to, but definitely different from, the khaki of my FZJ79.

I think this would look pretty damn hot, with black adornments.

Then you may contact. He also ask do you want to install same size tire ? He mension that FJ tire hight is 3.5' high.

"Maintainability" is definitely going to be one of the factors that will govern the Phantom's eventual colour. However, the more I think over it, the more I like shades of khaki. Although it's still quite a while before we will get down to painting this beast, the image of it in stone / ivory / dune coloured livery, is becoming more and more appealing!

If Allah is willing, I would like to undertake a CJ / Jeep project of my own, at some point in the future. For now, though, I have my hands full. This FJ build is coming along nicely...and the '65 and '67 Impalas will take up any time that I have left.

Like the FJ40, the CJ is an iconic vehicle. I'd really love to put one of those beasts back together, too!

Ironic that you mention that! I came to appreciate TLCs only after going through a few Jeeps, especially my CJ7, which has a drivetrain out of an late model FJ40. The person who originally built it must have had an FJ without a body because he transplanted everything from it, including mirrors, instrumentation, steering gear, suspension, you name it, straight to the CJ. Although we later restored it back to CJ7 specs, we kept the drivetrain because it's much stronger and smoother running than the original AMC hardware. This Jeep is about to become the recipient of more Toyota engineering in the near future!

To be honest, in our neck of the woods I think TLCs are unbeatable. When it comes to performance, combined with the ease of finding parts, mechanics, maintenance materials...they have no peer. And I say that with ALL respect to the choice of Jeep / Mitsu / Merc / Nissan / Kia / Suzuki fans.

That being said, Jeeps are incredible beasts. They're tough as nails, as hardy as a mule, and as exciting as a roller coaster. A whole bunch of reasons why I love them.

This desire to rebuild a Jeep isn't a passing fancy on my part, at all. One of my most prized possessions EVER has been a Jeep. A '52 Willys, no less. I rue the day that I had to sell it, due to a temporary move abroad. And when I DID move abroad, the vehicle I bought was a Jeep, too. A 2003 Grand Cherokee Limited...all 4.7L of V8 madness!

I think one line I stated earlier says it all..."the CJ is very much an icon, in the FJ40 mould". I mean...who could possibly resist having a genuine piece of automotive genius is his stable?

Certainly not I!
