Just wondering if its wise of the owner to spend USD5000 "restoration fee" on a 1965. Would've been wiser to find a pre-60 bug as base car and spend that much of money as "restoration fee" to end up driving a show winner.

The car arrived on a Mazda freight truck

...and offloaded using as ramps, just a couple of pieces of timber no more than 6 inches wide!

Under the hood is some surface rust and the wiring is a mess but it is still remarkably original! I haven't seen a cleaner original glove box on another car

The interior is in tatters but it still has its original carpet and other bits of upholstery

there is some thru rust on the rear screen frame

and the worst bit is the right side where the car was T-boned (hit from the side) at some point in its life and badly repaired.

I took (and continue to take) a ton of pictures documenting every detail of the car. I have shared just the ones that best describe the condition as well as the areas that are going to need some serious attention. The condition of the car deterioated due to neglect when the present owner moved to the US however the car remains a low to medium mileage car that has had her share of misfortune. The car has some serious potential and you are going to agree with me as we proceed

Pictures can never describe what the naked eye can see. I am sure it will turn out to be a great project. I myself am a great fan of vdubs (old and new). Will follow this closely....
