Rightly said, and regarding the technicalities, I totally agree, however, I still have few things in mind:
When I am about to start the engine and move the key to "ON" position (i.e. I am just about to start the engine), orange (or red) color temperature light for engine lights up, and immediately goes away after may be 1-2 seconds (It may be noted that I haven't started the engine yet).
That symbol goes away along with many other symbols, and blue color temperature light for engine lights up (again, I haven't started my car yet).
When I start the engine, blue light is there, i.e. engine is cold and / or has not attained its normal working temperature, and goes away after 5-7 minutes, when engine has attained its working temperature.
When I start the engine in the morning, I personally observe a pattern of change in engine sound in the first 30 or so seconds (may be ECU is playing its role and adjusting rpms / AFR). After that, engine sound is constant, but blue engine temperature light does not go away. I let the engine warm up for 2-3 minutes totally (mostly 2), and then start driving it. The blue light is still there. In total, after 5-7 minutes, the blue light goes away (of course I do not gun my ride, and drive with extremely light foot. My speed is almost ~10 kmph or even less).
My questions are:
- Should we not give it at least a minute or 02 before starting driving it?
- Does start driving the car just after starting it, not harm the engine?
- Is it perfectly safe to start driving the car immediately after starting it up? when blue light is ON and engine is cold? (of course not driving it harshly)
