Tips for Baleno

bhai, lets put it in Math - i fill 500 rupees CNG in my Baleno and it returns me over 120KM in city drive of karachi. now, for 120KM run on petrol, i will need atleast 13-14Liter of petrol - the cost/liter is say 88 rupees - and for the same 120KM journey i will be filling petrol worth 1200 rupees means each 3 day run, i save 500 rupees (roughly). in a year, i save over 50k worth of fuel costs. since my car is a 2004 model with sealed engine still, so in these 13 years of CNG running, the car has saved Rs. 650,000/- worth of fuel costs. and lets say the car needs an engine overhaul now (which is NOT needed at all) it will cost max 35 thousand rupees with all japanese new parts - so what do you say - am i gaining or losing?

bhai, i am not talking about JDM/Hybrid cars, but almost all Paki assembled cars can easily run on cng with no issues. yes the issue can be of cng availability in some cities but overall its very practical and pocket friendly. i cannot do further maths to clear it out

All checked. Wiring, coils, fuel injectors but still issue remained the same. I've also changed the sparkplugs a month ago , but still the problem remain the same. Now the last thing left is the map sensor , i hope soo that the issue may get solved after that , because I've tried almost every thing. I repeat the car is running excellent at CNG , this problem is only on petrol. I'm facing this problem from last 2-3 months.

ok so if your car required 13-14 liters of petrol to cover 120 KMs distance, then your car is seriously out of tune. baleno can return atleast 12-13 kms within city driving. so a properly kept petrol driven car will consume about 9-10 liters of petrol for 120 kms. so 10*88= 880. so basically you saved 380 RS. (provided you get 120 kms in 500 worth of CNG). lets now come to the other side. everyone knows CNG makes the car run less efficiently. cars were designed to be driven on petrol, not CNG. every car that runs in Pakistan has engine which wasnt made locally so its a wrong deliberation that pak assembled car can easily run on CNG with no issues. plus CNG-ed car require more frequent maintenance than petrol driven. the cost you put in maintenance needs to be included as well. ..

Any history of some cng tuner playing with throttle body screw to set idle rpm?

jdm cars which claims to give 16-17km per liter actually give 13 or so in karachi traffic. a car like baleno can not give 12/13 at any cost. no matter what you do to it and how good you tune it. even if i assume 12/liter on petrol (which is just insane) then a 10liter fuel is needed which is 880 rupees. instead cng gives same kms in 500 rupees. so still there is hell lot of difference. and what maintenance you mean is extra for cng? maybe valves give up early or what? that cost i already included in my calc. that if i saved 650,000 on running on cng in fuel costs, why not i spend 40k to overhaul engine with all new parts and still saving 6lac rupees net i 13years? bhai, paki made most cars came with ff cng! and you agree or not, cars like margalla, cultus, baleno are so good on cng that almost all cars are on cng since their birth. by any means you cannot dump the calculations i have given above. and in the end its marzi of the owner to run his fx on hi-octane or mercedes on cng but facts are facts

Grab a multimiter find values of tps on closed throttle and wide open throttle from service manual and calibrate voltage according with that svrew

Great. On closed throttle, throttle plate suppose to be fully closed or little open to avoid sticking??

Yes this happened once , and i think after that may be i don't remember accurately this problem arise. Then after that , that trottle nut is adjusted many times

the cars that came with FF cng were introduced internationally with CNG as well?? NO ! because the companies operating in Pakistan knew that our nation is cheap and poor and to maximize their sales, they introduced FF CNG in them. how on earth our engineers were more capable than the international ones to make a car run "Perfectly" on CNG when originally those engines were built to be run on petrol? FF cng was just a gimic, they knew CNG is available and people were getting their cars converted to CNG just save few bucks (in short term), so to make more profits, they started to put CNG in our cars. so that aside now, the maintenance cost i was talking about CNG was firstly, CNG required lesser air than petrol so that required restricting the air intake from some point. that effed up the petrol settings and car would run worse on petrol. 2ndly, cng sold by many cng stations was not clean and caused car to miss fire so then again CNG knobwas to be fiddled with to make it run better. 3rdly CNG cylinder is dead weight in the car. it weighs about 30-50 kgs which you drag for no reason. and for that additional weight, one needed to put either packing to keep the height of car at reasonable level or would need to change spring to some other car's. that would cause front suspension and drive of the car to suffer. cng cylinder takes up entire boot of a hatch back and major portion of a sedan. and most importantly, cng cylinders are dangerous. few lost their lives while the cylinder blasted. and yes to your point of cost saving, i dont know how did you come up to 650,000 savings? mind sharing how much KMs would a car have been driven to save this much? because i guess car would already be done with its engine by that time. and to end it, people here time and again ask for opinions regarding car's behavior. their car runs OK-ish on CNG but worse on petrol and they keep doing hit and trial... everytime they get answer to first remove CNG and then proceed.

yes you are right that our awam is cheap and poor ! so great of you for saying this. aap ki tarha har koi petrol per car afford nahi kar sakta. aap ne jo bhi kaha usme se aik baat bhi durust nahi. the cost saving exceeds considerably as compared to expenses in short as well as long run. peace

You need to get tps calibrated now from a expert without right adjustment forget good running on petrol

who told you i can afford petrol, it is just as expensive for me as well.. that is why i try to keep my traveling to a minimum. i use bike for locations which i know would be jam packed or i dont travel at times when i know it will be rushy out there. baki its your car, your pocket and your will. drive it on cng, petrol, hi-octane, air or coal, whatever keep your car running.

Dear Members, I have a confusion about the fan blow of my baleno. This would be the first summer I will be having this car. Earlier I had Santro Plus and its blow was damn too good. But balenos blow has disappointed me. Like at 1st point its so damn less that I dont even feel any air coming out of the duct. I have checked with the mechanic and he said this is ok. Baleno normally has this much blow. is that so? Is balenos fan blow less than santros. Or do i need to get my ac serviced? Anyone Please. Many thanks.
