@Shani...I used to see this BJ of yours quite a lot in Defence & Gulberg...Bcak then a I had a Blue CJ-5 with huge chrome exhausts on both sides....maybe u have seen me too

P.s. There were 2 BJs in the same color werent there ??

waisay an observation... most of the army chasis i have been looking at are all old & rusted !! do u think they are strong enough to be the structure base of a decent jeep... okay i knw there are jeeps running with these are running in the toughest terrain of northern area... but im still curious

what treatment do mechanics give these chasis? how they are restored? how to identify chasis problem? any help of experts here

I have seen many 1KZ /1KZ TE installed in many Jeeps and they perform fine. May be some due to no proper wiring / installation have some problems or a technical problem can happen to any machinery. As shani606 has first hand experience and 13B's recommendation is also not bad. Infect there is a variety of choice available in the market to choose from.

FJ40 is making more space in my heart day by day. Let C what comes next?

all mentioned above are very good engines but depends upon your usage of the ohhroader. 1. On road mostly(used like a car) go for 1kz family. 2. Harsh offroading go for 3B it will give you good torque and reliability. take care

akif if ur intersted in an RKR a friend of mine has restored with its original 1pz engine..i can talk to him. By the way RKR is that shape which these days our Police has.

I agree with members who said that 1KZ-TE is a good engine, however its good for mild to moderate off roading. For real tough terrain I would suggest 3.4L 13BT or 4.2L 1HZ, 4.2L 1HD-FTE, . Especially combined with low weight of an FJ40, the latter will give enourmous amounts of tourqe for any sort of terrain. However Its a pure technical comment and iam not aware of the cost or easy availability of those engines there (especially 1HD-FTE).

regarding 13BT, i have personal experience and i can recommend this motor. 2L and 2LT (2500cc) which came in LJ71 and Land Cruiser II are only recommended if u plan to take your jeep to Muree only, otherwise they are designed for light duty versions (LC II later renamed as Prado).

I'd just like to add that i think the FJ-40 is a much cooler option than the CL-7 since it looks (and performs) just as well (if not better) than a CJ-7.

Chip foose did a Silver FJ a while back and it might be a good place to draw some inspiration from (can't seem to find the pics on my machine at the moment but i'll post them when i find them)

from the 70s onwards BJ meant Diesel engined and FJ meant Petrol and in Pakistan BJ40s were sold through dealers and all of them were diesel. The Army had the FJ40s only and in Petrol (info. provided by @voyager). So In pak mostly there are BJ40s and I can safely say no FJ40s exist unless by collector or enthusiast.

@Racer, Ther are many FJ-40's in Khi, most of them are army auctioned. I remember couple of years back Punnu Aqil Corps. auctioned 100 FJ-40's. Some of them are still in use by Bhattai and Sachal Rangers. I spotted couple of FJ-40's ther at Bhattai Rangers HQ last year, in mint condition though the paint was atleast one inch thick as according to a personnel they paint it after every 6 months.lolzz...

Salaams sajjid bhai...i hope everything is good at ur end...welll RKR is that specific shape or model of land cruiser that our police and army has.....sajjid bhai from last 9 years since i came back from California after my studies m into 4x4s.....i started hunting back in 1991 but all the time there was one problem that i did not have a 4x4......ultimately being inspired by my hunter friends like Raja Amir from Jehlum i bought my first 4x4 back in 1998 and that was suzuki sj410 but i did not like the power so i took that engine out and installed a toyota corolla 1.6 engine coupled with a 5 forward suzuki samurai transmission and transfer box.. and from that day now m playing with the 4x4s.

In the following pic that bj40 is restored by me for a friend....its almost the copy of bj40 that i restored except the engine.....The pics of my bj40 are in the beginning of this thread...

One of them was For Sale at a showroom in DHA too for some time
