I came across this thread today. We all know SPEED THRILLS BUT KILLS. We tend to blink away this fact when we are stretching the limits on our cars. I used to drive very fast, but after I got married and I had my first child, I realized it was a different story thenceforth.
Someone mentioned that we should stick to basic function of the car i.e. driving from A to B ... totally correct.
When we are young, adrenaline flows freely through our arteries, and we derive joy from driving dangerously.
We all need to understand that driving is not a right ... it is a privilege. When we drive fast, we not only endanger our own life, but also the lives of others around us. Many friends have pointed the finger at Jabbar, a close friend of Abdullah. Jabbar was driving the car when this accident happened. It was not the first time that they were driving fast and dangerously. One of the videos posted by Abdullah showed both of them were driving fast.
Loss of a friend is the same as losing a close relative, sometimes, even sadder. We all share the immense loss of our dear friend with his family. May his soul rest in peace. Aameen.
At the same time, we should all remember this tragedy and drive safely. Wearing a seat belt is considered to be a hassle, but it saves lives. When Princess Diana died in the car accident, only one person in the car was wearing a seat belt, and he was the only one who survived.
Islamabad Police has done a great job in enforcing the law regarding wearing seat belts. Even when it was not mandatory, I always forced my wife and children to wear seat belt. I think all of our brothers and sisters on this forum should adopt this habit.
May Allah Almighty keep us all safe and shower His Blessings on all of us. Aameen.
