@arshad: thnx bro...regarding ur queries...here r the answers to them
wide variety of hotels r available in Skardu...varying from shangrilla to dhabba type :D...i stayed at PTDC motel in Skardu...the rent was around 3300 per night for double bed but fortunately we availed around discount :P...if u want breathtaking views alongwith luxury then go for PTDC...if u don't want to spend a lot of money then there r hotels with around 1200 per night and they can be bargained easily :)...like Deewan-e-Khaas was there...it did not have any spectacular views but still the rooms were good enough and at tht time rent was around 1200...wesy last year i went to Skardu in winter and only paid 500 for a room at an ordinary hotel :D...dat was coz it was not a tourist season!!!
now regarding jeep fares...dats the most expensive thing i wud call :(...in 2009 we were charged around 5,000 per day excluding fuel...at dat time diesel was around 62/ltr and now it's around 90/ltr ...so u can really feel the difference
Day 1: we visited lakes in Skardu like, lower Kachura (Shangrilla), Upper Kachura, some villages alongside a nala...really awesome places
Day 2:: we were off to deosai...i wud call it the most beautiful place to visit...drive from Skardu to Deosai is around 4:30 hours...there is snowfall in summer also...i witnessed it myself :P...u can view Satpara Lake while going to deosai...there is Sheosar lake in deosai from where u can see Nanga Parbat if weather is clear
Day 3: we left for Khaplu...the road to Khaplu is pretty good as it is used as a supply line for Siachin...drive from Skardu to Khaplu is around 4 hours....pretty good scenes during the journey...stayed at PTDC motel in Khaplu the day we arrived...
Day 4: we left for Hushe early in the morning at around 6 a.m
Road to Hushe is not good...infact we can't call it a road :D...it's a dirt track...dangerous at some points but also very impressive at the same time....
OK so we reached hushe at around 11 a.m....and the first thing we did was...wear jackets...lol...it was uffffffff cold over there...in 2009 Spain was building a hotel in Hushe...dunno if it's open yet....at that time it's bulding was almost complete...Hushe is surrounded by huge and magnificent peaks...and the most amazing thing is u get a clear view of Masherbrum which is around 7821m :)...baltoro can also be accessed thru Hushe...so we stayed for around 3 hours and then left for Khaplu
Day 5: we stayed at Khaplu visiting the city...it's also a beautiful city with Shyok River flowing thru it
Day 7: time to return to Skardu coz we had our flights the next day
Day 7: Thnx to Pia flight was cancelled and we had to stay for 2 more days in Skardu...so we decided to visit Shigar which is also a good place...it has a fort leased to Serena Hotel...u can rent rooms in the fort but u can imagine the price as Serene Hotel is enjoying the proceeds of it
