First of all let me clear that I have never littered these places and never stolen any fruit from trees. Neither l have seen any tourist stealing fruit. Getting upto karimabad is quite expensive and mostly educated tourist reach there. And a few changa manga type people may go there because of tour companies which gather people in 15-16k per head for tour in costers. Most of these tour companies are working with help of local people so nothing to blame on lahoris and karachiites. But still the person who can spend 15k can also spend rupess 200 to buy apples. There might be one two person in thousand stealing fruit and karimabad people exaggerate too much abuse tourist on their fb pages. Karimabad people want more and more visitors to visit their city and forts and they have no garbage collection mechanism. No one has installed dustbins or hired sweepers. All the have done is writing on boards "keep hunza clean". In this regard who is to be blammed for garbage natives or visitors?
My views were in general about changing behaviour of people of karimabad only not about people of hunza. Many people have discussed with me that karimabad people are charging a lot of money. I have also felt that prices of hotel and food have increased a lot in 2 years. It is going to become next murree and naran they don't honour tourist like before. I have requested people to stay in ptdc aliabad or beyond karimabad there are good hotels they treat you better and charge lesser.
It's good you have visited karimabad in 1990s take a tour now and stay at eagle nest hotel or hunza embassy or any hotel you will certainly pay more and endorse my observations.
Sareena people charge rs. 250 per person for baltit fort and 200 for altit fort which is too much expensive. Karamibad people also present forts like they are eighth wonder of world. Due to hype of the fort many ladies kids and old people reach there after very steep hike and only thing in these forts to see is view of rakaposhi and diran peak from balcony. These peaks are the ones which were famous in hunza valley. Now karimabad people have launched new names like lady finger peak and golden peak and dozens more names to come. These people are very smart they know how to do tourism business. People of astore, khaplu, ghizer and naltar are very simple. They never launched any name of peak with photograph on Facebook.
My obervations about karimabad and other places are based on my personal experience to guide potential travellers on this forum it's not necessary everyone agrees to it.
