Well, generally it should be ok but let me share couple of experiences. Though its off topic. I visited Qatar last year, we have to go there for a week to visit a client and do some onshore work. Client sent us Visas which were work visa. We did not know about protector, got to the airport and were off loaded. Now comes the shit we had to go through in which we made character certificate then go protector and finally were able to fly.
Secondly this protector thing is only implemented strictly on middle east site. My bro was on work visa in singapore, malaysia and used to visit PK multiple times a year and never faced a problem without protector.
Another friend went out on work visa as he did not know, no body asked him for it. He came back on vacation and when he was leaving, he was off loaded as he did not have protector.
And the process of getting a protector is also shit.
