You have brought up very important question! Yes! Toyota has the best CVT transmission, however depending on type and degree of abuse it's life will accordingly shorten.
Frequent changing of CVT fluid will help keep the wear and tear at low, however on the other have overfilling or underfilling will have it's own toll.
My cousin didn't knew there interval of CVT fluid change of 55k km or 2 years and drove his 2015 Grande for about 130k km. We were skeptical about fluid change that the transmission might have went bad and fluid change will worsen ..... However the fluid came to be allot dirty but was not burnt ..... Now should we assume nothing happen and we may change fluid very late and under our over fill use okay? My answer would be, a lot of wear happened in his CVT which we saw on magnets and pan floor - although CVT didn't broke but suffered heartattack. And must be avoided.
