Hi there. I need some help with my car.
It's a 2012 model with 81000 on odo. Imported by a friend. Car runs great and it's fun to drive but about 3 months back I came upon an issue, right after taking a corner I felt vibrations from left side of car as if my front left tyre was passing over cat eyes.
I got worried took it to a local mechanic. We drove the car around and realized the vibrations came on shifting from EV mode to engine. The guy said it's an engine missfire. Anyway he cleaned throttle body, plugs and air filter. After that the vibrations were a little better. I drove the car from Lahore to Islamabad on high Octane. As soon as I reached islamabad, the next day I took car to another mechanic who rotated tyres and vibrations were reduced. After balancing, the were almost gone. I didn't feel anything after a week.
Now a day before Eid it was raining in Islamabad, and roads were flooded. I avoided as much as I could but in the end had to slowly pass through an unavoidable patch. As soon as I came out of the puddle which was about 8 inches deep and 200 meters long, the vibrations were back and this time even on straight patch as soon as the engine turned on car started vibrating violently. Suddenly the engine check light came on too.(the vibrations only come on shifting from EV to engine but fades away in about 15 second) I got worried. As most mechanics were closed, I took car to a local guy. He checked and said it's definitely an engine missfire. He then said that probably the orange cable that comes from battery to traction motor got soaked in water. He said it will go away. But I didn't believe him. As these cables are supposed to be water proof.
Since 3 days I'm driving it. Vibrations are less now. Only appear after taking a turn. Probably by engagement of steering pump. But I am confused engine light is still on. And today I have to travel to Lahore. I don't even know if there is a good hybrid mechanic I can find there.
