Experience Sharing.
AoA brothers. Wanted to share my experience. I've Altis 1.6 March 2019 model, 12k driven. Car has been driven with normal care between Rwp, Gujranwala and Lahore both on GT Rd and motorway. Mostly GT rd. Few days back i noticed a growlling (غوں غوں) type noise from front left side at speeds 40 and above even if not accelerating. And the sound got lessened as speed reduced. Having a mechanical background, i strongly suspected it's the early stage noise of wheel bearing. Today i took it to toyota rawal motors rwp and got it thoroughly inspected under warranty including road test. I was right. The sound was diagnosed to be from the bearing. The part was available but still I was suspectical that the claim would be a lengthy process where they will 1st seek approval from IMC and then go ahead. Instead, they replaced it there and then. Did rd test. Sound was gone. Afterwards got a free car wash. Part was for Rs 14390 and total bill was Rs 15240 and ofcourse i paid zero Rs. All was credited to IMC. Being a previous owner of a brand new Cuore for 13 yrs, i always thought that factory fitted parts are of best quality and my experience said the same. Like i didn't need to change bearing of cuore till 1 lac kms. Rear shocks needed replacement at 70k above. In short strong believer of reliability of factory fitted parts thus always preferring a small brand new car over a bigger used car. I asked them what could be the reason, they said any mechanical part can fail anytime (ok, i agree) and that this bearing fail can be due to odd cat eyes, and weird port holes that can surprise u at any moment on these rds.
Well, my experience for this warranty claim was as great as it could be but i was left a bit worried with the reliability of so called queen of paki rds, ok the GT Rd is full of bad patches but i was expecting some solid reliability given the fact i drive very safe and normal. Although the toyota motors experience was very fine and car is otherwise Alhumdulillah great and fun to drive but now am not that over confident for the reliability of it's suspension etc. May b am over reacting like a love hurt from a baywafa. Hehe. Your thoughts are welcome please.

well bro same issue happened in my 24K driven altis 1.6. its common in corolla coz the orignally fitted bearing is nsk thailand. i checked the replacement part at 3S and it was koyo japan packed in toyota packing. the bearing cost u were quoted is 15K whereas this nsk is around 2K rs actually the same actual part in market. i got koyo japan from bearing importer exact same part for 3k and paid the labor to toyota for replacement. its actually a 2k part being sold for 12-13k plus labor. 3S is looting people actually.

regarding bearing failure it mostly happens due to water creaking in the seals which mostly happens if u wash a extremely hot car. steam has a way of going in the bearings.

Thanx for sharing your views. Was your car in warranty when it happened? U did not avail that? And which 3S dealer u used? Was it toyota 3s? So do u recommend getting parts from other sources and only using toyota labour. Which is the best and reliable source for parts in rwp and lahore?

Can anyone tell me is the horn covered in warranty by IMC? Car is still under warranty and the horn is giving a different pitch sound, sometimes one works sometimes both.

brother my car was not in warranty since wen i got it, it came with only 20k or 2 years warranty. i went to toyota islamabad in aabpara. however i did check toyota capital and toyota GT all had same rates.

yes i do strongly recommend to get orignal parts from 1S like hamza younis or mehran autos in saddar and use toyota labor (which they will sometimes object and needs to be managed accordingly).

regarding bearing even 1S quoted me 4500 Rs for koyo japan however since i had the exact bearing number with me so i contacted the bearings dealer (lucky bearing in saddar) and got it for 3K from lucky bearing. same exact orignal new bearing.

labor wise toyota islamabad has better attitude and are cooperative people.

Yes that i was concerned about. Toyota normally don't allow outside parts. So how to manage that?

i show them the reciepts of 1S and after confirmation that the parts are orignal they agree to use them. hopefully it will work out for u as well IA.

Right. Means receipt of Hamza Younas, Mehran and Parts Central will work

it should be ok. however its still better to discuss with dealership over phone call before showing up for maintainence with your own parts.
