Here is My Personal Experience with the Corolla Altis 1.6 Auto 2017 Pre-Facelift
I bought my car used in the April of 2024 about a week before eid.
From the get Go i noticed, seats were neither comfortable nor ergonomic, but being a previous corolla owner (Corolla GLI 1.3 2011 with Leather seats also bought used in 2021) i knew Good seating is something Toyota Pakistan doesn't know how to make
Now what i never expected was how bad the seat actually was until i did a long trip from Gulberg to Punjab Cardiology to Allama Iqbal Town and back again to Gulberg, By the time the trip ended, i was sobbing bcz of how severely i was pain, bcz of the extremely bad seats, no signs of lumbar support, or any sort of ergonomics.
I had to use pain killers and pain relief tubes to get some relief, that was the first seed planted in my heart as to how bad it was.
The next thing, the extremely stupidly soft suspension, Like what is the need for overly soft suspension, High Speed stability, Road Grip and Cornering is completely thrown away out the Window, The Body Roll this car has is enough to give an experience of riding waves, the hilariously high ride height, the way the back is raised, not only does it look absolutely crap, but also the cars braking and handling is compromised.
The brakes are better then 10th Gen i would say, but still lack the 10th Gens superior handling dynamics.
The Fuel Average is one of the worst things about it, first of all i curse the one who pulled the plug on the 5 speed Tip-tronic in the Corolla in 2011 Facelift instead to be replaced the crappy 4 speed Auto. Had that mf not done so, we would have had the 5 speed Tip-Tronic in the 11th Gen Altis 1.6 and GLI variants.
The fuel average in City is 9-10 km/l
On Longer routes at 110 km/h i managed to get 14.0 km/l
again bad compared to my GLi which was giving 12-13 km/l in City and 17-18 km/l on 110 km/h.
Also the car tends to hunt gears, the jerky gear shifting and only 4 gears is not a good combo, it greatly decreases the power and efficiency of the car.
Lack of features.
This was a surprise, bcz paying 4.0 million PKR, i thought that since the previous 1.6 Altis, i though that we would get retractable mirrors and fog lights, sadly both were not there
the infotainment, well idk if it can even be called the infotainment, whatever, is pathetic and useless, the rear cam is also such a poor quality that it is laughable
Overall, Lack of features, Lack of fuel efficiency, Lack of Comfort and overall a poorly done Corolla Altis that could have been totally great.
the good stuff is the AC, 1.6L is responsive and zippy in the city, road presence, and interior space and trunk space is good,
Steering is also good and precise But not great.
my rating 4/10
