Sorry for going off topic.....I hope showing off brand new cars in Pakistan decreases. Buying new cars just to satisfy ego is a norm here in Pakistan. I have spent almost half of my life abroad and since coming back 6 years ago I have observed so much ego here in people for God knows what reason. Geniune Rich people or Upper middle class People never show off thier actual wealth. For e.g I can I have a same Corolla grande and u have the same but I have spent an amount which I knew I shouldn't have but just to show off and satisfy my ego in front my "rishtedaar " and "Fraands" i bought it. Now those are the ones which will be selling off thier cars and unnecessary stuff.

True dat Brother, ppl here have some big ego's and i still dont know why. Ppl first need to fill their necessities and then go towards luxuries. Buying a car isnt that difficult but being unable to maintain it is very sad.

Look at us Pakistanis living abroad for instance. Not only the first gen, also second and third generation.. Driving really nice cars & in-some case living in nearly slum-like areas just to prove we have made it.. I dont believe its ego. Its just proving that we are doing better than the rest.

Personal shauq bhee to hosakta ha. Plus everyone has different needs and these Corollas and Civics are by no means a show off, as many people around us have them. These are regular family compact sedans.

I wonder if these automakers hold on to their increased prices regardless of a slight appreciation in Rupee, which it does but the automakers don't invert the prices back to their previous place.

Within a few years, the prices of every sedan will be beyond the reach for a sane, common man.

The question is, what would be the outcome if these car companies can't sell a single car due to their held-on prices? Will they retreat from Pakistan or will their dealerships shut down as the employees working at those dealerships require money to keep them working? Assuming the plant will already be closed at such time of no sale.
