Rims alone make altis 1.6 auto worth it let alone the automatic transmission.
New rental is Yaris manual.

Yes i know the 10th generation 1.6 was 6 speed.
But this time when they launched 1.6 Altis with manual transmission I guess it was 5 speed. Only 1.8 manual was 6 speed.

Did they change to 6 speed now?

Altis 1.6 manual 11th generation was never launched before. It has been launched now after the discontinuation of XLi and GLi

Is this manual altis 1.6 upgrade in altis 1.6 lineup? Which other fellow members were referring to an expected upgrade on 12th gen corolla thread? Or 1.6 AT alone is being rumoured to receive an upgrade?

It's not an upgrade, in fact it's a degraded Altis 1.6

I think it's not lollipop but Yaris is not able to capture Rent a car market of Gli/Xli so I believe they thought 1.6 Manual Altis can fill that Gap. I think that's the reason they have removed 16" inch alloys and switched back to 15" inch Gli/Xli steel Rims or maybe they had left over 15 inch Steel Rims from Gli.

This altis manual with steel rims is a marketing gimmick to check public opinion for the upcoming 12th gen.
in the 12 th gen expect altis manual and auto and in 2 variants , a basic one with steel rims and less features , and perhaps a fully loaded auto variant .
Expect grande and altis auto to have some more features and colors by the end of this year .
So Incase they launch 12th gen altis with Gli level features , public won’t say they downgraded the new model and old was better!!
