My Corolla (pre-Facelift) still giving me fuel economy problems. It is a manual transmission and it is giving me only 11.3. What do you guys think is the cause for such a low average?

I have a 2016 GLi AT and it is giving me perfect mileage. In City, be it Lahore or Islamabad it gives me 12-14kmpl and on GT road or motorway it gives me 14-15kmpl. Lowest it has ever given me is 10kmpl. I used hi octance before, but I have stopped using as it doesn't increase the performance not does it have any advantage to the fuel economy. With adding Hi Octance I feel car runs a little rough.
And I calculate my mileage manually everytime I refuel.

Same thing i am facing max average i am getting is 8.5 with ac went till 9 due to a long trip but came back to 8.5 within a day....regularly using ron 97 from hascol driven 2600 kms got it 18 days back hvae filled 7 tanks till now of which 5 were pure ron 97 from hascol

That's amazing. The GLI with Automatic transmission is supposed to give you less mileage compared to manual, but your car seems to be doing great. I suppose you regularly get your oil/air filters replaced.

Yes I strictly adhere to the maintenance schedule. Using Taglon as engine oil.

Same my Auto Gli 2016 gives me 11.4 on as per the meter. And on manual calculation it gives me between 11-12 kmpl in city with ac

My friend this is normal avg. Your car will improve the avg after 10000km or after second oil change. It will reach to 11-12 Km on long.

lolzz. what kind of mechanices are sitting in toyota who do not know that gli tappets are auto adjusted. they are never adjusted manually.

i have driven my toyota gli 2016 on motorway about 38 kilometers at the speed of 120 km/h to 140 km/h and it gives me the average of 12.5 km i think it will give me the average about 14 to 15 how it will improve please help me?

but i get 9 to 10 in city and 10 to 12.9 on highway in gli manual

Reset meter

Drive at least 100km on 120 to get real average

For better fuel economy

Change air filter
Don’t push hard
Occasionally use Hi octane
Keep correct air pressure

These new vehicles does not need break in or tapet tunning of any sort... your actual milage should be between 12 to 13 km/liter which you can verify after few filll ups.
The actual problem is with the cheap hardware of all variants of local made corollas which does not calculate and display the correct kms/liter. If you are too concerned get it reset by the computer at the dealership.
By the way those who has the same issue, ask them at how much RPM they shift the gear... you will get to the conclusion by yourself.

Original denso copper plugs for this engine are best.
Iridium got better life, but copper is better conductor of electricity.
