Hello
So, I kind of inherited a 1988 corolla. It is a Frankenstein because in its current condition it is made of parts from different models. It has a 1.5 litre engine from 1996 corolla, it has a fuel tank from a corona (model unknown). And it has an automatic transmission. And it has seen ita fair share of accidents, both major and minor.
It is rickety, but it drives and it straight. I do not want to dispose it off because it is a kind of heirloom. So I plan to make it something that feels nice to drive in.
I do not wish to restore it to original. I wish to make it nice even if it means I need to modify it further.
Firat thing first, I am getting the denter fix the rusted floor boards and remove any minor dents or mis-alignment of body panels. Then I am getting namda replaced on the floor boards. I am also planning to ask the denter to attach/paste namda where-ever possible to make the inside of car as quiet as possible. The denter has advised me to use it inside the soors as well as the wheel wells. I wonder if that is a good idea or if there is a better way to achieve a quieter cabin in the car.
Next, i plan to focus on the engine which vibrates like crazy at times. I can see that one foundation is shot and needs to be replaced. I wonder what other surprises are in there for me.
I am completely out of my depth here and i am talking yo anyone who knows something about car upgrades/refurbishment. Any advice is welcome.
