Salam All,
Im looking for an expert mechanic who can solve my 2008 power steering issue. The issue is when i start my car the steering feels normal. I mean it is soft but as soon as i drive it it starts getting hard. I have changed its power steering pump like an year back just to solve this issue but it didnot vanished. Also i changed the power steering fluid but it didnot vanished. Anyhow as my car was not a daily driven vehicle so ignored the issue. Now im driving it on daily basis and found this issue a problemtic one as it is quite hard to steer.
So im looking for some expert specially for power steering assembly. If it need flushing, it need a pump changed or whatever, he can guide me professionally.
Im from Lahore and looking for someone professional in this field.

what Tyre profile are u using? i hope its not beyond 15 and 195
power pump replaced from junkyard? original one is pretty hard to kill.
Any foaming visible in fluid? what color is it at the moment? has any burning smell in it?
Caltex makes a pretty good oil with brand name of 888 specifies power steering fluid..

Im using 205/55/r16 tyres which I bought in 2014. Ya they are done with their life and need to be changed as they are hard and have cracks too. But I don't think so it could be the reason of hard steering. If it is, why the steering is soft when I start my engine cold..??
Yes power pump was replaced from the junkyard. As the model is old, we cannot procure the new part.
No foaming in the fluid, no buring smell. However as a DIY, im thinking to get the power steering system flush and then pour new oil.
Last time I replaced it with LM Power steering if im not mistaken. Ill check it again but before pouring the new oil I want to bleed the system and check for the possible pressure leak. One more thing, there is not drop in Power Steering fluid aswell.

ok...the profile u r using is actually too big for this car...195/65/15 shud be max u can put on it...
when u start the car, all PS parts including fluid are relatively cold and PS pump makes slightly more pressure having more assistance to steer, once heated up, they loose certain level of performance and become hard...

you can ask any of friends to swap lower profile tyres and check PS performance...hope it helps

Thankyou sir for your informative comments. Before these 16inch tyres, I was using 195/65/r15 and that time on of my relative has same model same year and same month too. I drove his car and his steering was soft enough and mine was hard. The only difference was of tyres. He was using stock 14 inch rim with some profile tyre which I don't remember. So some where in my mind, its stucks that the PS system might need some bleeding or something. Isn't there something PS fuel additive which makes its a bit smoother. Obviously im not comparing it with the EPS of other cars but it really needs force to move the wheel.
Plus there is not sliping or sound coming from PS pump.

boss...i am afraid its not possible...do u think that using a certain engine oil will result in increase in BHP? offcourse not...same is case with PS system...the profile ur r using is recommended for Camry, now u just compare the PS system installed in ur car and that of a camry (till 2007 it came with (HPS), if corollas PS was enough to pull such big profile, why Toyota installed bigger pump and steering in camry, they could have saved lots of buck by using the same PS as in corolla....
just get the correct profile and save suspension and other parts on ur car..

The rear hand brake shoe serviced too. I was in plan to change them but the mechanic said not needed they are good to go.
