it is best to ask him first what are the start and end points of his "responsibility"
e.g. - the most usual way of "lektrishann" in Pakistan to "finalize" a job is that they say "injun start he" - job nitto taped to hell, fuel pump hot wired to ignition, injector wiring messed up (sometimes running as batch fire) - relay to kill O2 sensor heater circuit etc.
8000 is far too cheap for a quality job, infact a good parts list for a clean job will be more than Rs 8000/-
Its all very pretty and shiny when you imagine it. But as with all projects make sure you know at least 3 other ways to atleast take it from A to C (note its not A to B) - you should be able to identify success after correct implentation.
As Oracles said, our mechanics are globally famous for jugaarbazi (shortcuts), the only resultant of this is pain on the owner.
another example I have is of home A/C mechanics, they show up half dazed and almost looking to loot money, they use caustic soda to clean aluminium fins and have no problems in adding air to the refrigerant, when confronted with questions they say "saalon se kaam kar rahe hain tum koan ho hum to bataney waale" a bit more badgering pisses them off and then they challenge you "thats what I love" and when I show them the correct way, they either start to fight or simply shut up and quietly learn.
point is - make sure you (owner) are not just "wallet holder" - it gets very messy in Pakistan as the people working on your item may or may not be 100% honest to their own trade.
