Customs wale ache log hain. Car thek ho to koi nai rokta.
--> Much appreciated sir, my experience has been similar, even when I was not part of this service.
And let me highlight you and Fahad bhai as well on custom compounds full of crowns and other cars.
Bhai sb, those cars are tempered. People wanted to change the shells. They gave their cars to Peshawar area pathans to get them swapped. You know what they did? They simply cut that part of the frame bearing the chassis number and welded it on to the upper model car.
The cars when stopped and checked were found to be cut and weld and Impounded by customs.
--> Again, much appreciated. You know these waters well and I believe that you should highlight these grey areas to other people too. A number of people, whose vehicles ended up confiscated due to cut and weld procedures, swear by their lives that they thought that the Pathan did the right thing and even gave them documents to go with the procedure. I fail to understand how people can transport a vehicle all the way from say Rahim Yar Khan to Peshawar for processing but fail to consult appropriate authorities to check if what they are getting done is legal. The state and its machinery cannot be held responsible for every action that every citizen commits. We must realize that as citizens of the state, certain things are our own responsibilities, such as consulting someone regarding legality before doing something irreversible.
I know Fahad brother where these cars are used. We just got a surf from your department to be used in FIA. The FIA guy is an old friend. I selected the vehicle from the yard.
--> Even more appreciated sir. The federal government has temporarily halted purchase of new vehicles as a cost cutting measure. Vehicles confiscated by Pakistan Customs can be requisitioned for operational use and you must agree that the process is actually hassle free and open for choosing on the part of Pakistan Customs.
On the other hand, we took back a corolla x that was declared cut and weld by your department whereas in reality the car was all original. The car was in use of a high up in sambrial and we took it back after wining the case.
--> I would really appreciate it sir if you could please provide a PTCL reference to this case so that I could look into the case facts and questions of law posed therein. A faulty forensics report might seem to be the trouble at the outset but as in most questions of legality and fact, truth is often stranger than fiction.
