2E However Is HOT item Still In 2nd Hand Market As 90% Mechanics Can Work On It...So They Always Prefer That As They Can Work On It Being Carb...WhereAs Other Engines Are EFi And They Just Can't Workout On New EFi's...So They Never Being So Much Happy With Them....!!

guys.........1.3l carburetor v/s 1.6l efi...........Which has better consumption? I have been biting Hash's head since the past four days so want to know from others now. currently my 262000km driven 1.3l carburetor is doing 100km with a/c. thinking of upgrading to 1.6l efi for better fuel consumption. the mechanic fellow says it'll remain the same.

Almost equal consumption but 1.6 might give you better cng consumption.

But you will also get more power from your 1.6 engine.

I use to have Charade and now i got Corolla 88 -2 E i am getting almost same cng consumption.

Get overhaul and keep it running till you really need to replace the Engine or car

put a 4AFE in it, you only need to fab 2 mounts if you are using the big C50 or 51 trans and 1 if using the original 2e trans.
OR
put a 4EFE 1.3 in it - its nice, smooth and very economical.

when you put those in, do not try to convert them to carburettor induction. Have a proper EFI looming job done, We've done it many times..

just a question out of curiosity:
do we need to change the gearbox as well when we change from a 2E engine (and the gearbox setup that came with it)to say 4efe/4afe/5afe?

the trans can be used - but you would need a smaller flywheel or use the original 2E flywheel.

I've got corolla 97 (japanese) automatic with 4EFE running on CNG. Mileage is around 185k and the problem is a diesel engine like sound plus it eats some engine oil too in summers.

Request the experts to suggest a solution whether to go for swap or overhaul. what could be the optimal swap and which workshop to go for in RWP in case of overhaul?

Overhaul if u dont want hassles of Engine Changes otherwise check the RWP near kamran Market or Pori Pul, Saddar they have plenty of Engines.

i think ur car donot neeed complete Overhaul may b some Makeover can fix for you. i dont know any good reknowned person for Engine Overhaul but will check some frnd for you.

ok vajih, i am doing a similar swap..

the car under question is corolla 96 jdm, with 4efe and auto tranny(4efe and 2e have similar mount locations.

so we opted for 5afe...
and manual tranny

the cast
well 45k for the engine tranny and everything needed to swap from auto to manual.

add another 10k for the labour and other small bits...

i think it wil cost you the same also, reason well we have the disadvantage of having auto hence the added cost of going to manual, but the advantage that the car is already efi(4efe), hence the efi relays and the pump and every thing is already in place.....

you are most welcome to see/drive the car , to make a better decision

i am extremely sorry for such a long absence but was busy with work and that means official email only. i would like to thank all those who contributed to my post, SER_GTR and Spectra in particular. I sold the car two weeks back in the same condition since it needed much more than engine refresh/replacements. still, i am glad information provided by them was useful to many others.

sorry to hear you sold the car.

this car can teach you a lot which comes handy later!
and 4afe would had been power with economy.

and more power with superior maintanance and better brakes/suspension the answer lies in GT conversion with 20v under the hood.
but anyway goodluck with your newer cars.

Oooo BHAI... NEVER GO FOR A 4EFE... Especially all of u people who like this engine.. Man.. is ki koi tourbleshooting support he naheen miltee yaar.. NO replair manuals even available on the web.. My engine developed a problem and now it was been like 8 months... no one is able to fix it.. Engine... manhoos RPM he sahee naheen pick karta... Infact ager koi hai 4efe engine ka to please tell me where to get it fixed... I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE + EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM 4EFE... cuz it old and u won`t find much help on it even on web... Go to the 5 series.. or 4a series... Dont go for 4efe.. I am using this engine.. If you want proof. i can upload a video... Complete waste on money..
