Toyota Fortuner 2017 Officially Launched

I would buy the fortuner this time around, if I had to, but not by comparing it to the prado. If I have the budget for a prado, definitely I would go for that, and any other sane person too.

Way to expensive and not much to offer is now the case with Prado after New Fortuner.

Prado is only good if its 4000cc TZ variant with kinetic suspension and 5 speed auto... but it will still lack paddle shifters 6speed Cruisetronic rear independent AC vents.
Also this time fortuner angle of approach and ground clearance is better and water wading depth equal 700mm.
Fortuner will be compared against Prado here in Pakistan every time around as it beats the oldy on many fronts.. price reliability acceleration fuel economy warranty looks new technology navigation entertainment ...
Its time to sell & change or it will be too late then- once fortuner on roads!

If budget of 10million available any sane buyer will add a million more to tame the King - LandCruiser V8 2011-12 AXG or even 2009-10 ZX the real deal and Hotcash resale.

I don't know why are you so much stressing on buying Fortuner? Your posts sound a bit promotional and paid for. If you are genuine person then let's share your drive experience when the Fortuner actually comes out with your pictures sitting in it. When someone tries too hard to promote something it's sounds fishy.
My guess and feeling is that Toyota since the flop of Fortuner 3 years ago and bashing they got here on Pakwheels have learnt their lesson and are ready to launch a campaign here. I have already seen way too many promotional articles written by PW staff. It's sounding like a biased IMC playground at the moment when the Fortuner haven't even launched.

The interior actually looks better and improved. Let's see how it actually feels. I wasn't impressed by Revo's interior or drive. If Fortuner uses same suspension then I am out of their buyers list. I am however seriously considering getting Fortuner as a daily runner. I backed off last time after driving Fortuner for 2-3 months.

Prado will definitely be superior to Fortuner but for that it needs to be born again in 2017 with superior performance design & tech but a S grade brand new Prado in 2018 will cost 1 crore 40 lacs easy and that wouldn't be sane for any Jane!

I already said I like the interior of Fortuner but I hate Revo's interior and drive and Fortuner is basically a surrogate of Revo but I am still expecting it to be better than Revo. But one thing I can still bet on is that in drive and comfort it will never be better than 2011-2012 Prado. I don't really care about a few extra bells and whistles offered by Fortuner and to be honest there's nothing extra when you compare it with a TXL.
You have mentioned Prado to be 80 lacs while it's around 60 lacs for the TX and TXL is around 70 so there's not much of a difference. And to be honest let's compare Fortuner within the same class. Prado and LC are a class or two above!

The 2.7 liter prado is quite sluggish but still, the drive and smoothness if it is much better than fortuner. Even fortuner was very sluggish with this engine but let's see how it is now.Overall the fortuner may have better features in this category this time around. But when you compare it with the 4000cc version than there is no competition at all. The prado has rear ac since ages. Nothing special in that. Also has cruise control and Tiptronic transmission. Fortuner seems like a great car, this time but top of the line prado is much better any day, and worth the money.

Toyota made fortuner so there is a more affordable 4x4 for people . Not so their own product gives competition to another product of theirs. There is a price difference because of that very reason, that they are a class apart. When I was living in Dubai, a fortuner cost 90,000 dirhams, prado cost 170,000 dirhams and a land cruiser cost 300,000 dirhams.
Since each product is of a different class, there is a price difference.

There is a price difference because of that very reason, that they are a class apart. When I was living in Dubai, a fortuner cost 90,000 dirhams, prado cost 170,000 dirhams and a land cruiser cost 300,000 dirhams.

dude hardly ppl used paddle shifter and trust me its not going to be useful in fortuner, i myself hardly use paddle shifter in civic and Audi A3.
Back to the topic i agree tht prado will lose it market value as i recently sold 2011 PRado 4.0 V6 before the launch of locally assembled fortuner. 2ndly yen has done down so the price of 2.7 PRado TX will come down to 6.5m which will be still 1.0m more than brand new fortuner so obviously most ppl will suggest to go for brand new fortuner.
I dont understand why IMC has launched 4x4 fortuner in 2.7vvti, every 4x4 need more torque mean they should have brought diesel 1kd or new 1GD engine. In Thailand new fortuner 2.7vvti only comes in 4x2 option and 4x4 option is in diesel 1GD only.

Yes. I wish it had more options. Should have had a more powerful Diesel engine or a variant with 1GR fe, like it has in other countries.

Fortuner is based on Hilux chassis and prado is whole different platform..
comparing both together is not fair. Compare older fortuner prado wins hands down..

I cannot comment on new fortuner but i am sure its going to be the same case all together.

Yes.. 4.0 V6 is the real feel of Prado! 2.7 version is slur on Prado badge.
In middle east Fortuner comes in 4.0 variant also...wish we have the 1GD option atleast.

I would too, if I had the budget and if I was looking for an SUV. This one is much better than the previous one in terms of aesthetics and features. Exterior design may be liked by some, whilst not liked by others. It's a matter of personal taste. Moreover, for those who are not into adrenaline-rush kinda driving and enjoy driving at cruising speed more, this might just be the SUV.

How much would a brand new 2016 latest model Prado cost me? IMCL website states PKR 14m!!!

Now that's 2.5+ times the price of brand new latest model 2016 Fortuner.

It's actually a no-brainer, really.

Exactly I second you that 1 GD would have been the real deal for Revo & Fortuner but IMC is one Junk settler clearing redundant stocks here... after 2 years a mid cycle refresh will probably bring 1GD 2.8.
Paddle shifters are really useful in hilly drives.
Its a welcome feature as even top of the line land cruiser Zx lacks it.

Suspension-wise and other-non-engine-wise aspects of this new Fortuner should be checked out by you based on various South African and Australian YouTube reviews. You'll find out how good or bad it is from end user feedbacks. During my visit to Johannesburg and Durban in June I saw lots of new Fortuners there.
