I saw a review of this machine on some Indian youtube video and they were complaining about a very stiff ride on road.

A six speed automatic and dual vvti engine may address the acceleration and laziness problem, but I am not sure how much the weight has increased over the last model!

HOWEVER, our beloved car manufacturer has again failed to see the market trend both internationally and to some extent locally!

The world is shifting to cross-overs! The popular VEZEL is a good indication in Pakistan.

Even Suzuki knows this (I consider them the original crossover manufacturer ) and have introduced the redone vitara and even in Pakistan too.

Toyota has just launched the CH-R which I think is a great looking crossover. They should have introduced that model in Pakistan!

There are a small number of buyers in Pakistan for this kind of machine and this vehicle is probably only targeted towards them. Niche market.

Just finished writing my 2 cents on the other thread about Fortuner and saw this. This is actually my point, there's a new market segment in around 4 million range and Vitara and Vezel are going to rule that. I am not comparing cross over with a proper SUV but when you get an SUV at a price a little higher than Vitara or Vezel you go for SUV. Here's my original reply from other post.

One of the biggest reasons previous Fortuner wasn't popular because it was over priced. It's not worth more than 4.5 million. Toyota got CKD duty down by 10% back in 2015 and Yen also dropped 10% from the initial launch date back in 2013. Fortuner should have been at least 20% cheaper compared with 2013 prices. Toyota never passed on this saving. The only saving they passed on was the 5 lacs duty that this Government imposed and then took back when Fortuner almost got killed. They are repeating the same mistake once again. A lot of people buying Civics would happily upgrade to Fortuner by stretching their budgets a bit if it's priced around 4.5 million. Yet again there would be a lot of people who will buy Fortuner at this price happily but at this price point there's not much a difference between Prado and Fortuner. People who have the budget to spend close to 6 million (registration and taxes included) have the capacity to spend a mill or two more. What Toyota should be looking at is to grab the middle segment from 4 million range which is far larger than 6 million segment.

Well the push start button and Vehicle Stability Control should have been there as both Honda and Suzuki has started offering them. One really expect these things to have after spending much more than Suzuki Vitara and Honda Civic. Plus the cover over the Push Start button area feels very bad in a 5.5 million car (including taxes). I am sure that Toyota will eventually offer them in Fortuner, but why not to offer from the start?!

Just had a test drive of new Toyota Fortuner and here are my observations:
The front lights with DLR’s, Lexus style back lights, Body Contours, The chrome linings etc. are all very impressive. Not having an electric tail gate can be compromised but Lack of push start is a big letdown.
Cabin is more spacious than its predecessor, very well equipped and definitely gives it a look of a luxury car with its nice Optitron cluster with MID, climate control, paddle shifters and quite good infotainment system. Keeping in mind the maximum quality Indus Motors can give to their consumers in terms of material and not expecting a miracle from them, cabin overall looks and feels great. They have also provided a “Nazar Battoo” in form of the cover over push start button.
The biggest disappointment in the cabin is second row seats while third row seats are surprisingly much more accommodating than expected. As for the second row seats, first of all you have to recline the 60/40 split exactly same from both ends to even make the second row look good. One can compromise on the hump on floor but Seats are BULGING out big time in the centre (both from back support and sitting area) making them the most uncomfortable for the third passenger. These seats are perfect for two passengers as leg room is really appreciable.
Indus could have done a lot better, had they introduced a new engine.
They have made it dual vvti as compared to vvti from previous model and changed the gear box from four speed to six speed Tiptronic. This has improved a drag in pick up a little bit but not to complete satisfaction. The power mode does little but nothing to improve this. The only way possible to get the power out is to use the combination of sports (Tiptronic) and power mode but this will bring the fuel economy to the lowest level. Option of making the vehicle part time 2WD/4WD is a big plus missing in last model. Even though the Rear Differential Lock provided in this model is not an alternate of Traction Control which is missing, it may be used instead in dire needs. Ride, though still bit stiff, has greatly improved. Hydraulic Steering is not as responsive as it should have been but I found the overall handling of the vehicle okay.
