Toyota Fortuner 2017: Ownership Experience

It's a good car .......... with no quality issue that I can think of ........ considering that this is local assembled ....... I would recommend you to go for upcoming Diesel version that will have more torque than this petrol version ............. this car is little under-powered ........... especially at the time when you are to do lot of over-taking i.e. on GT road ........ I guess Diesel version will be good enough

I heard its like extended version of Hilux.. in terms of inner capacity and luxury..

It is true that it is based on the same platform as the Hilux is..........so most of the features would match.........however Fortuner has different and better rear suspension..........better legroom in the rear and better seats.........as far as the space is concerned.......Hilux can have a more room for cargo than Fortuner..............

why not use the triptonic for better instant power, or is that also not good enough?

Triptonic is okay...........you can use it once in a while.........but having to use it too often on GT road is something that you won't like...........I've driven the car to Khunjarab pass in the north and to Cholistan on the Punjab side...........I've found it adequate in difficult terrain and on steep roads.............it's only the GT road where frequent overtaking is required..............I found it wanting for better torque........

I've heard that Petrol version will be reduced to 4x2 only with some features stripped down (e.g. leather seats)................the Diesel version would be 4x4 and would have additional features..........let's see.......what happens..........

Visited Cholistan on the long weekend Dec 22-26....................Drove the car for 1800kms mostly in two days...............am really impressed...............how comfortable long-drive has been with this car...........previously I drove this car from Rama Lake to Islamabad in a day...........coming via Besham and it was not tiring at all..............especially when compared to a sedan like Civic..........

Absolutely yes, this car is good value for money..........I think nobody would regret owning it..........

Yes......I have used 4x4 in off-roading conditions..........both 4H and 4L...........and it makes a lot of difference............

does the diesel 1gd ftv fortuner need a break in(running)

Well......as far as I know.......you need a break-in period for each car.........not necessarily the engine only.......you need to be little careful with brakes.........avoid high acceleration........sudden braking.....avoid constant speed for too long........and if possible short trips.........this doesn't mean that you need to be too slow........these engines are meant to be tough and you can be tough with these..........just avoid abrupt change in speed...........

I am sure there are Pakwheelers who can add to this

Nowadays we get pre run engines, drive as you please from day one, no worries

Good to know . i will still ask the dealer ship when I receive my car . I know that petrol engines from Toyota don’t require breaking in . But i have doubts about 1gd diesel
