They did it after an elderly gentleman developed back problems earlier in 2017. It is THAT bad.

I know all about it. Booked Fortuner last year, but cancelled after a friend asked me to go to showroom and sit on second row seats. I was already hesitant because of no push start and VSC, so cancelled immediately.

If there were an award for "Most uncomfortable seats in the world in an SUV". Then I am sure Fortuner would have won it.

One thing to note however: If I have to smoke a W212 E200 I will always take my chipped Revo over any other vehicle (SUV). Have powerslid that thing across intersections and hopped speedbumps (Bahria) at speeds above 120. It just has the planted feel, and it has to do with stiffer suspension. Also note that the feel of Revo (Not so sure about Fortuner) is pretty much identical to what I drove in Australia earlier this year. Equally uncomfortable. So I guess it is global and IMC is little to blame.

4.0V6 is good as the new diesel 1GD but torque is less, i had Prado 2011 4.0V6 and that was fun/fast but fuel consumption was ok around 6-6.5km/L within city drive. IMC is not forcing anyone its upto u, everywhere in the world majority of Fortuner is diesel and even Toyota Japan has introduced new Prado with 1GD engine.

I completely agree with you.
Fortuner doesn’t even comes close to Prado. The comfort of fortuner is subpar. The seats have terrible lumbar support. The back starts to ache badly specially on long journeys. Indus idiots have ruined fortuner by installing these hideous seats.
There is a reason why still an expensive 5 year old fresh import Prado sells

1GD is engine that actually defines fortuner/revo...the 2.7L petrol is a joke TBH!

There is a reason why Australia will set Toyota on fire if they dare take away Diesels from that market. And yes, as Fortuner/Revo were primarily defined as per AU specs they were designed with the GD platform in mind. Tacoma, on the other hand, is another story - Not a terribly fancy one.
On that note, I can't believe some people have actually b(r)ought Tacomas in Pk. Talk about grass on the other side of the fence. The Americans DROOOOOL over KD/GD/VD diesels.

Suspension of a TX prado being better than the fortuner is the one of the biggest misconception in our pakistani car market both come with double wishbone setup in the front and a 4 link suspension at the rear. It doesn’t come with the KDSS which we associate with the TZ prado which drastically increases it’s ride quality.

Fortuner seems to be extraordinarily expensive. It is priced at around 45 lacs even in countries where Corolla and Civic are more expensive than in Pakistan. Why is this so?

I hope with the introduction of competition, we too can get a Fortuner at Rs. 4.5m.

Australia only gets Hilux and Fortuner in diesel for the 4x4 variants....the 2.7L petrol Hilux is only sold in commercial-spec low-end trims. The petrol Prado V6 has been discontinued here because 98% of Prados sold here are diesel...

There are even talks of the Land Cruiser LC200 and Lexus LX570 being discontinued in petrol next generation, to be replaced with a diesel-only model and the Lexus LX450D.

Different platforms. Different suspension travel. 150-series is a completely different architecture, so yes they are different segments. It is not only better, but designed for a superior overall platform. There is a reason why Fortuner is a tier lower in Australia where both the SUVs are sold and it ain't just the frame. The type of suspension is regardless to where it is implemented. So while on spec sheet they maybe similiar as per design, true, they may have very different outcome. I own both a TX and a Fortuner, it will be a disgrace to my TX to even remotely compare it to the Fortuner.
And I'm not biased in my opinions, e.g. I still believe my W124 has a better suspension than a W140 (for many reasons).

One more thing, before this picks up heat again: Fortuner, to me, also has a better suspension - In a very different way. As I have said earlier, if I need to roast some kids on the block I will pick my Fortuner/Revo all day long. They stay planted to the road and have incredibly low body-roll for their size and articulation. If you measure up a TLCP TX wheelbase, you will see why. I won't dare try to do corrective and evasive driving with my TX the way I employ the Fortuner. So, it is not worse in comparison. It is just... different.

I think the headlights of the 2018 J150 are much less in-your-face, not so much the same for the taillights...

For an urban SUV, I'd take a Kluger AWD over either of them. That 2GR-FKS D4-S V6 engine is the bees knees.

I never had a thing for Kluger. It looks... mini-van..ish (I know I will get heat for this as my family loves their Kluger over there). To me, a bare-bones KDJ150 (with a 1KD instead of 1GD) with all the gear. Similar to those owned by telecom firms in Adelaide.

Pls people. I am just telling u a fact that every car or Suv has a problem. Let me correct everything in this world has a problem or weakness. FORTUNER'S weakness might be its seats which some think are "hard" then let me tell u a solution rather than always exploiting its weaknesses try to play with its power. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL Suv, It's a brilliant off road error. IT'S feature loaded and as overall comfortable if not "heavenly comfortable".
So we can either look at it this way or again start talking about problems which will only make our blood boil.

Well the hype seems to have settled. Lots of fortuners available from showrooms without any profit. Even on Pakwheels.
