The J150 Prado starts at AU$62,000 here and the top-end Kakadu model is AU$82,000 or thereabouts...the Fortuner's top-end model is Crusade which us AU$53,500 for the highest trim...
The Hilux platform is geared more for towing, and I agree that the wheel articulation and suspension travel is much lower in the AN130 platform. The Hilux/Fortuner are incredibly capable off-roaders, but their basic purpose is towing/carting rather than trail-bashing.
