Salam everyone. This is going to be my first post here in this forum. I have read a lot of content here. I had no intention of buying a Fortuner but a couple of months ago, I had some funds and went out to buy a third car (I have a Civic Turbo and a Prius). I was looking for Sportage but then I test drove a Fortuner and it just completely changed my mind and I bought a 2019 Fortuner in black.
Civic wala launda se you know ub fortuner ooper wali baat thi, lol. Shashkey ka NEXT level tha ub ye tau. haha.
Sadly, little did I thought at that time cause I was just too excited to get a "Fortuner". I got 2.7 V 4*2 variant.
I have always been a sedan lover and I just love my Civic Turbo to this day. If anyone has had a chance to drive a Civic turbo you know why then. Anyways, once I started driving Fortuner everyday....I had no idea how much would I start liking SUVs (not talking about wanna be SUVs like Sportage/ Tucson etc).
Matlab k civic chalane ka dil hi nahi krta hai ub Everybody says k Fortuner really is uncomfortable. Ho gi, but honestly I like that. Feels like a rugged and rigid machine on Lahori roads. Bumps bht feel hote hain but that feeling of rather driving a pickup truck is what I like. That is what I wanted.
I get a very impressive fuel economy i.e about 10-10.5kpl in city (may be cause it's 4x2?). I drive with a very light foot though. But now I want to get a Sigma 4 variant. I have heard so much talk about the ample acceleration, good fuel economy, and the most important thing that it's going to be 4x4! I just freaking hate that fact that I spent almost 10mil on a SUV that is 4x2. Never take a decision in excitement!
I wouldn't have funds to buy a FL version but I can get a 2019 or a 2020 model. I just need help in finding a good car. I don't have any experience with diesel engines. I work on my cars myself usually, I am a car geek and I do know that if not properly maintained diesel engines tend to give a lot of trouble? For example, with this 2.7 version I spent 250K last month and almost got this car in it's brand new state. In 250K I got brand new dunlop tires, spark plugs, oil changes (tranny + engine), air filters, brake pads, fuel pump. Got all that done last month. Buying a used diesel car, I just have my doubts, if there's something wrong it would be far more expensive. Wouldn't it?
What are your suggestions? I do not off-road. Not yet at least. My commute is from my home to my software house but I do want to know that my car does have 4x4 if ever needed. I can also wait a couple months, gather up more funds and get a FL 4x4 V but as everybody is just saying how good Sigma 4 is, I think Sigma is the option to go with here.
The timeline is another problem, getting me all confused. Price hike is coming. Seems like a major one. Today USD was at 221. It's gonna be big. Seems like it. Should I wait for the price update? Before I sell? I think the difference is around 1 mil for same year diesel vs petrol variants. And If I find one say 40K km driven, what are the major things I should be looking for? I am thinking I'll only buy one that has all the maintenance history from Toyota. Also, I read somewhere that our Sigma 4's are not equipped with DPFs? If that's true then that's one less thing to check and worry about lol.
Happy to post here. Your suggestion/ advice will be highly appreciated.
