Excellent review. I second everything cool box posted above as I was with him during this test drive experience and share his views.

To add my further two cents, in terms of Cabin noise, the Fortuner sound/noise insulation fared well in stopping outside noises from coming in. The tyre noise was also unnoticeable. Well that's because of the grand trek PT which are also found on the new Revo and which I drove for over 4,000 kms last month from KHI to PSH and back and found them good in terms of grip and noise.

For those who have a budget up to 6m and who are looking for a decent brand new warranty covered SUV, this is it for the time being.

Psssst, for diesel-lovers: you might want to wait till 2018 for the Fortuner 3.0 D4D VNT version.

Great news... Whole new unichip world will be open with Turbo diesel. Wish it will come with power tail gate traction control push start and smart entry and DAC as standard.

I got power chip for Navara from UK for around 30k including shipping. Unichip is charging 5 times of that although these chips are pre-programmed and plug & play. I installed it myself. And I intend to do the same if at all I need to do so. Thank you for bringing it up.

Fortuner is not 6 speed CVT, its 6 speed sequential shift automatic.

I was also wondering, which one is quicker and faster. however, One can clearly feel that Revo is much more responsive, it feels like there is much more power but its just the torque.

12.5sec for 2.7vvti
11sec for 3.0 d4d (older gen fortuner)
10.8sec for 2.8 diesel.
9.6 sec for 4.0 petrol.

So, a diesel fortuner should surely be interesting. 11sec is pretty decent for a suv.

Based on real world actual driving experience of both 3.0D4D VNT and 2.7vvti (IMC Revo and Fortuner), both are more or less at par in Eco Mode.

The Power option in Fortuner brings in a considerable difference in response time and kick (as compared to driving the same in Eco mode) obviously at the expense of extra fuel consumption but giving you the thrill and satisfaction. In contrast, I've experienced more or less the same change in kick and response time in Revo when you change the manner in which your right foot engages with the accelerator pedal. Meaning that the ECO mode in Revo (actually) disengages when you are on high revs and the gear shifting also changes automatically accordingly.

Coolbox can also share his own experience between driving the Fortuner in Eco mode vs in Power mode.

In addition to my earlier most, while Revo is more or less at par in terms of response / power / acceleration with Fortuner, the GRIP and STABILITY part is where Fortuner clearly takes the lead. You just can't compare the grip and stability of an SUV with that of a pickup truck for obvious reasons.

Hence, unless you have a budget issue or you really want a pickup truck, then between the two (Revo and Fortuner), Fortuner is the way to go.

Revo and Fortuner are different leagues, and cannot be compared. The point I think is that if the diesel version of fortuner is worth waiting for? Considering only the power difference between the 2.7vvti and 3.0 d4d.

The difference between eco and power mode is significant. When driving the fortuner, I switched back and forth between power and eco modes a few times, and the difference was quite obvious. Eco-mode has atleast 15 to 20% more lag or response time.
EDIT:
The pick in eco mode is also quite subdued after overcoming the initial lag. It feels like the vehicle wants to go at its own lazy pace regardless of how hard we step on the accelerator.

IMC just changed the skin of Fortune & Vego (Rivo). Under the hood it's all old story. Both automobile have lower horse power.
In Fortuner rear brakes has been updgraded from drum to disk.
