Indus motors shouldn't forget, it had to revise price of previous fortuner from 5.7 to 4.7 million rupees. Its not only viewers of this forum who would buy this vehicle. Soon the initial charms of fortuner would fade. Trust me, already an opinion that fortuner while on the road looks sort of truncated from the front as well as back is getting common. Bro Dawar must not be taken seriously in the price calculation. Indus should decide wisely.

Auto industry of Pakistan should thank their lucky stars and Ishaq Dar, who propped up the Pakistani Rupee for last 4 years, kindly check the currency movement of PKR against the Thai Baht and Japanese Yen,

This happened at the time when apart from India all the rest of BRICS nations suffered massive devaluation and huge spike in inflation, while movement for our currency and inflation was in opposite direction, we had stable currency and record low inflation due to PML-N policy of preferring domestic consumer's interest rather than exporters (who suffered greatly under current regime).

This serendipity created a perfect situation where profit margins for auto assemblers went through the roof, currently they are enjoying record sales and record margin per unit.

Now comes the next phase, election season is due, Ishaq Dar is gone, already there is talk of currency devaluation, if that slippery slope is chosen, than I am afraid this gravy train is going to end for auto assemblers, @Dawar be careful for what you wish for (price bidding and unjustified price increases), its all house of cards, it could come down just as quickly as it was propped up.

I am a common man, salaried person. I have been working hard to save up enough money to be able to lease a fortuner, initial calculations were for me to be ready by Oct/Nov. Now its a bit delayed due to 150k increase. That should be sufficient to indicate how hard a 'small' price increase impacts my calculations. Same applies to many others.

I would like to get extra features, and a better engine, and pay for that too, but it means another few months of savings. And another delay in purchase.

Thank you for sharing all the information, but please dont mention or indicate about payimg 'extra'. People would pay if they like to. Your enthusiasm gets difficult to differentiate from marketing tactics, and that irritates some people here, and gives an impression of you being part of the auto industry mafia!

Some people like me still take your posts with neutral mindset, and some dont. Some people like me who want to make an informed decision really want you to spill out all the beans, and share as much as you can, but would still want the prices to be in line with consumer interest.

So, waiting for engine information please. If there is to be a 4.0 V6, thats what I will want to save up for, as I could only buy it once for the next many years, and cherish and enjoy my ride InShaAllah.

Now, as Dar going to be convicted in 27th Sept NaB hearing, I am afraid that the blueprints remains only blueprints at Indus just like that of Honda City 1.0 Turbo [ I have seen the R & D docs but couldn't get the copies from Atlas ]... Very important high ups meeting called today exactly pertaining to the facts that @faisaliqbal highlighted earlier.
Indus have no pressure whatsoever to upgrade/update ReVo or the Fortuner anytime soon as there is no competition. People are still waiting in more than half a year long queue and ready paying 5 lacs+ premium on ReVo and 8 lacs + on Fortuners.

The only incentive which will be driving Indus for upgrades is means for huge profit margins.
Indus was not acting goof launching new Fortuners at Rs. 5249 when 4 years earlier old model was launched at 57 lacs+. its a well thought strategic decision to offer little strip down trim first at a very competitive price and then once the market trapped then with addition of goodies set price or their choice.
It's a fact that ReVo and Fortuners have taken the market by storm- thai imported Vigos ReVos and Ford Rangers are in dusts & rusts at the showrooms and there is almost a complete halt on the import demand. While Fortuner enjoys complete supremacy in its class & segment. Overwhelming orders from the market & government & Armed Forces has done the trick for Indus.

Looking at the trend of Premium which the potential buyers are ready to pay.. Indus will be cutting investors margin by offering improved product at the price around current price+premium i.e 53 + 7-8 lacs for fortuner & 43+ 5-6 lacs for ReVo.. That's what they are considering to plan pricing to materialise the upgraded products.. Otherwise, no pressure to change if no profit margin to charge.
My sources will try to lobby our Pakwheelers sentiment i.e Not to charge something outrageous.
There is also a seth thought to introduce 1KD in fortuner with little upgrades until next budget & government change. It's taking lot of effort to make them understand about 1GD upgrade.. There are Diesel quality issues also under consideration... Other thought lobbying is more of a vibrant one like that of Altis with more powerful petrol engine upgrade with latest full house techs & accessories upgrade i.e 1GR Trd type variant as petrol issues arw widely addressed 92 95 & 97ron easily available and already tested in TZ Prados for long..

Thank you for sharing. All previous devaluations have passed the burden to customers. I hope the rupee is not devalued further. The commo man is hurt the most, as salaries remain the same regardless. This might take the fortuner out of reach of many who can just barely purchase it at this price point, and would result in them opting for used older models of SUVs or smaller cars (civic/corolla etc).

That being said, the price difference in different engines in fortuner globally is quite less, and it should not be over 5% for a fully loaded 2.8 diesel, and about 10% for a fully loaded 4.0 V6 compared to current offering (semi loaded 2.7 vvti), based on prices in rest of the world. If Indus motor somehow realizes to keep consumer interests in mind, a small reduction in profit could go a long way. But then we have dealer and importer mafia, who need to sell prados at a big profit, and if fortuner prices stay on lower side, prado sale get hurt. So, we have quite a bit going on in terms of vested interests. Common man suffers, unfortunately.

Also tell Indus Motors to upgrade the uncomfortable seats. Maybe something like this; took this from Toyota Tundra ad on PakWheels. Just look at the cushioning. Tundra starts at $30K while Fortuner starts at $51K, Americans enjoy luxury in $30K while we get seats comfort that is comparable to Mehran in $51K
