Called Toyota central motors today. The sales lady on the phone said Fortuner bookings are at a halt now and may open up after one and a half month. Apparently they’re making some changes to the feature set and will relaunch it after another price hike.

I dont know what the fuss about onn money is all about. A friend selling his brand new fortuner and being offered 350k only and not the claimed 750k. So much for market demand. Its more like creating the market perhaps with all the fake hype here. I would rather get a vitara.

People were indeed paying 7-8 lakh own, but it was mainly because of new launch hype. I do not think Fortuner can sustain high own rate for long as its quite expensive and majority of Pakistan's population can't afford it. IMC got a lot of orders for Fortuner from government and army. Remember those old Prados Punjab police officials used to have? Now they are being replaced with Fortuners. I have seen a few black Fortuners with police number plates in Lahore. Once these official orders are fulfilled, Fortuner own/premium will be Zero.

I agree. Let the dust settle and by end of next year, we might see Fortuner undergoing the same treatment as its predecessor...ready delivery at factory price at all dealerships..And if they keep hiking the prices, it might well be just the police and govt departments that would place orders for the Fortuner.

More and more owners are selling 2017 Fortuners . Which of the following do you think are reasons:
1. Out of greed to earn profit of high 'owns'
2. Poor drive/ under powered complaints same as its predecessor
3. Unimpressive suspension
4. Rumours of upgrade in near future.
5. Lack of accessories as compared to Grande
6. Fortuner badge does not carry that prestige for which so much money is invested
7. Fears of poor resale in future.

Add another one to the list...greedy investors are seeing their fate on horizon. It happened in case of Civic turbo then Vitara an now Fortuner.

Sir if Toyota is not giving any new feature with price increase of 1.5 lac. Would the exorbitant price associated with future upgrade not have any effect?

I'm not sure a genuine buyer who wants to keep it for 5-10 years is too concerned about 10-15% price difference, rather features are important to him. Secondly, cheaper variants are also expected for price sensitive buyers, with fewer features and lower price.

There was a black Fortuner going in front of my car today (i was in center lane, fortuner in overtaking lane) and looking at the reflection on the doors i noticed paint quality is not good. The reflections were dull, not like water.

Compound polish might bring the high gloss required but the paint on santro club and reborn has always seemed the best. Wonder if its material related or process? Maybe reborn and santro got some buffing in the factory?

Paint quality of indus is quite bad for a top-tier global brand such as Toyota. Only nice thing to say about it is its better than suzuki and majority of after market repaint work.

As for Suzuki, i think the only companies which do worse paint gloss wise are the pedestal fan makers of gujrat such as pak, royal, gfc etc. but jokes apart pedestal fans are more than thousand times cheaper than fortuner.
