What are the major differences between 1KD and 1GD? In terms of mileage and maintenance, which is better? Any major differences in features?

I'm asking because people are asking an outrageous amount for 2018,19, and 20 models. A good truck with a mileage of 50k to 70k costs 85+.

The 2016 or 2017 models are under 7 million, but finding a clean one is difficult.

There are a few differences. Body wise both are same. 1KD does not have the following:
Traction control
Rear AC vents
Hill descent control
Push start and keyless entry
The 1KD started in 2005 and is still offered in some regions.
1GD is new and came out in 2015 internationally.
1KD has 176 horsepower an 370Nm torque
1GD has around 185 or so horse power and 420 Nm torque
1GD does 10-11km/L
1KD does 9-10Km/L
1KD is more noisier than 1GD
As far as which engine is better, well both engines have their supporters.
The price difference is due to engine change and the misconception that somehow 1KD will blow its injectors. Both engines can have injector problems if not cared for.

The new 1gd (second gen in the FL revo and fortuner) is 200hp and 500nm torque. It is a far superior engine compared to the 1kd and better than the 1st gen 1gd as well. It is a new engine and not merely an upgrade from the 1st gen.

I was only comparing 1KD and 1GD(first gen) as in 2018-19 only first gen was available. The query only mentioned these two models. You are right that the 2nd gen 1GD is a beast and that car has overall improved suspension, off road ability, features and seat quality.
Dual zone climate in Rocco Revo, LSD, softer and longer leaf springs and softer shocks, Parking sensors (rear) better infotainment system, Bigger screen in meter and info of tire articulation added, digital speed added to digital meter screen. New one is a big leap in same body.

Guys, what is the battery size for Revo? and which brand is the best for Dry battery?

I think it's 65 amp battery but not sure, will check. Best battery in dry is Daewoo but exide is good too.

Hi Ahsan, How would you compare Hilux with Surf? in terms of comfort, power and reliability?

Surf

• Positives
o Tough on offroad
o Front and rear angle is better compared to Revo for offroad
o Comfort Is much superior
o Mine is 3.4 5vz hence better in acceleration and power
o Have protection all over the body from factory and it gives mental peace while on offroad or in traffic from Bikes and other people bumping
o Under body protection is solid

• Negatives
o No traction control
o Heavy on fuel 6 km/ liter
o Seating position is awkward
o Tail happy and prone to roll overs

Revo

• Positives
o Good on fuel economy 11-12 km/ liter
o Feels like a new generation car
o Luggage can be put in trunk you wont have to worry about carpets getting dirty
o Electric seats and information cluster is better

• Negatives
o Always must be very cautious on road
o Under body protection is flimsy
o Body feels very light weight or soft
o Bumpy ride

Definitely Surf any day for offroad !
just one offroad advantage Revo has is diff lock from factory, though this can be added to surf as an after market accessory

Why did you get a revo? I m trying to understand the purchase decision? I chose Revo over 2005 prado. I had my reasons. Curious to understand other buyers reasoning.

so, Revo is my daily driver. My last Daily driver was a FL Grande 2017.

Variables in making the decision

• Brand new 4x4
• Fuel efficient
• Reliable vehicle
• adequate power
• Can carry good weight for luggage
• to be used for long touring
• We are 4 people in family so never needed 7 seats.

Though my wife never liked Revo So it was on one condition if its in black colour. Though i hate the black colour and would love if it was white. I have taken it so far till Kumrat via badogai pass, Nathia Gali in last year snow. It also saved our lives in last Years Snow fiasco. and few trips between ISB to Khi.

This is the cheapest new 4x4 we can buy, excluding Dmax

While Surf is a proper offroader for hard core offroad trips. Its upgraded with ARB suspension. Coils, Shocks, linkers and Balance rods.

Plan is to also get Bf good rich KO2s but they are getting expensive every day ,

V Nice MASHALLAH @ahsann. Can you share details, cost of the Revo tub cover? Is it secure, waterproof etc.....

i got the cover in 2021 August. It costed me 95 K. Its not 100% water proof but dust and water comes very less to none in side the tub.

Mashallah, Mine is white and 1kd. It has thai suspension so pretty comfortable wrt to local suspension. I love the thing. Mine is also front lifted which gives it a great approach angle and amazing stance. I love the torque. It comes on like a train.

Its a random brand, probably Thailand made. Didnt get the electric one. Aeroklas was not available back then and its working fine with me. It comes with a lock but dont get the lock, to install the lock 2 holes will be drilled in tail gate and its very fragile. I didnt get the lock. Got it from Karachi, Optimum motor sports Zamzama
