its pointless to import brand new Revo from Thailand since the local assemble Revo also getting same engine as Thai Revo with smart key/push start also the cost of Thai Revo is above 7.0m.

I have driven Toyota Revo for over 5 months now and over 7000 kms. Mostly in Islamabad city.
I wanted to share my experience, I think it will give some idea to those thinking of buying Revo/Fortuner.

Gentlemen let me put it very straight: if you think this car is very rugged : think twice as the build quality of IMC is poorest to say the least.
with in two three months of buying and driving with in Islamabad I heard rattling sound with in the car, the type of sound you hear when a car is past it's prime and has spent considerable time on Pakistani roads.
I was so disappointed that I cannot put it into words, as it bothers me a lot that a car built for an off-road environment starts making this sound with in few months. I am sure same is the case with Fortuner and I expect same from New Revo. As IMC is to be blamed for poor build quality of locally manufactured Toyota vehicles.

2nd Paint quality is very poor.

I think we should all come forward to find a way to put pressure on IMC for building quality vehicles in Pakistan equivalent to all regional countries.

I am also unable to forgive IMC for selling old engine technology to Pakistani market and selling new engine with in few years.

I think this is enough for the time being but it's very difficult to contain bitterness against IMC.

Is there a point in upgrading to the new 2.8 revo? I've just had my 3.0 revo for 3.5 months. I'm assuming there would be a decent financial hit as well?

Got the chance to drive Fortuner sigma4 last night, my bro in law have petrol Fortuner also drove it and he felt instant torque difference in driving which is big plus point for him, for me its small difference in performance as i drive Revo 3.0 1KD. Few things i like is the sound is quite low compare to my Revo but obviously still louder than petrol variant, it came from showroom hardly 50km total driven so cant tell the exact mileage but i guess it will give around 9.5+km/L compare to my Revo which give around 8.5km/L.

I drove it too and the instant torque hype & all figures drama sumed & melted down to a mere 1 second faster acceleration of 0-100 in super ordinary 12 seconds.. What I felt instantly was an instant engines grunt, it was noticeably loud and rough compared to it's petrol counterpart.. The feeling of instant torque is actually the engine noise which creates a delusion of accelerating fast while the speedo if noticed climbs almost in the previous fashion.

Indus needs to do something about insulation here as our bad diesel tortures the engine & makes produce more noise as compared to international markets.
Even petrol variant is also not well insulated as the same 2.7vvti old prados stand quite silent while idling as compared to new petrol Fortuners.

Actually it is brand new so it need to adapt on our diesel fuel, even my Revo felt like this but later after doing 500km i felt more power as i used to drive Thai Vigo 2700cc petrol for 4.5 years. The sound is still a lot less than 3.0 1KD engine and again once u start driving for longer time u get use to with diesel noise coz u r straight coming from petrol engine Fortuner. I agree as our local car metal sheet r very thin plus there's no proper insulation material in it. Btw u r wrong about acceleration as i had lil drag race with my bro in law petrol fortuner, its not big difference but even with more passengers in diesel fortuner was ahead by 2 cars length till 80km.

Torque difference is good for those carrying 5 to 7 passengers all the time... I believe it will do good on long family trips uptill Naran and no further. After Naran -babusar and altitude high places will create hiccups and lot of power loss/drop in our local Diesel.. I was quite satisfied though last year with all 7 passengers 2 kids & luggage loaded drove all the way up & even did some serious off roading.. Mud Hills snow water wading/river cross etc..
More torque is welcome but i believe in normal use it was never needed.
For those pleasure seekers 1 GD is not the entity of desire to turn decisions... It will be certainly the upcoming V6 4000cc Fortuner for which the dealership staff is being briefed ...

1GD Diesel Revo with Unichip power won the rally recently. I believe in normal use it's much usefull as it's more economical compare to torque-less petrol Fortuner. I had to press accelerator more than half in petrol fortuner to over take the other car in 70-80kph with 4 passengers but in diesel I didn't need it just light accelerator n it was hauling with 5 passengers smoothly. Recently here a lot of ppl r buying sigma4 coz it can run up to 600km in single tank, majority r those who goes to interior Sindh or Balochistan.

Even though more power is always welcomed, i seriously doubt we'll ever get to see the launch of a V6 fortuner. As a matter of fact only a few gulf countries have this option where petrol prices are cheaper compared to the rest of the world. So in my opinion it's not worth it to wait for something which may never be launched. As for the diesel variant people will realise it's potential after a few months of ownership. There's a reason this vehicle sells so well in a country like India where you even have competitors like Ford endeavour struggling for sales against it.

Even if it come in 4.0 V6 it wont outsell the 2700cc petrol or 1GD diesel Fortuner as its going to cost 6.4m with registration it will be close to 7m. Secondly it will be not economical in traffic or within city drive as i remember my dad's 4.0 V6 Prado used to give around 6.5km/L within city. Pakistan diesel is getting better so i hope in future more diesel SUV comes along with the diesel cars.

Thanks for all the informative links, Dr. Ahson. Does TCM allow you to provide the parts and charge only for the labor? I have been doing the servicing / oil change at 5,000km so far. Will switch to after every 2,500.

Anyone knows of the availability of the Hilux Australia Roll bar in the local market? Haven't found it yet. I am also looking to change the fog lights to the LED ones that are being sold in the new Revo.

Also I've seen a few car with the 'Revolution' on the tailgate. What's the story?

Changing oil at 2500km is no point, i know TCM guys very well n also the unichip guy at the TCM, he said its useless to change at the 2500km for brand new car, he got stage 4 tuned Thai vigo which he changed at 4000km coz it has gone to rally n other offroading places in the north Pakistan. So i wud recommend you to change at 5000km and also get better oil like Caltex Delo gold or Delo 400 MGX, i got this engine oil recently and instantly felt smoother/lighter on lower rpm and also got lil more better mileage from before.

Pakistani diesel has been improved lately and as per official specs contains less than 500ppm sulphur. Therefore, oil change intervals on newer diesel engine vehicles can safely be 5000 kms with any reputable mineral oil brand. It can be even more than 5000 kms if you are using good quality synthetic oil of recommended specs.
