Dear Sir;
I'm really thankful to you for such a straight forward feedback and took it very positively. I would like to clear that as per my limited knowledge and got an impression from PW forum discussion that Toyota or OEM producers are no more producing LC 80 series and Surf Parts and the Only way to source them is Kabli parts.. please correct me in this regard if it is not like that.. seriously I'm not a Kabli parts lover, recently I had completely overhauled my hatchback engine and tried my best to put as much OEM parts as I can unless those are out of production and only option left is used Kabli part.

Furthermore, need your guidance to aquire it's parts and general maintenance knowledge here in Karachi so that I can know this vehicle in depth which would help me to find it's real value against the money and time, keeping my priorities in view. Yes, I like it as Vehicle but there is a lot left to know about it for which I need guidance of your kind self @Xulfiqar, @capsat , @Moderator, @waqasch1 and other seniors in this regard .

The top tier level culprit of diesel pump damage is dousing a hot injection pump with a stream of cold water. Whenever I saw that in Pk.. it was an automatic fateha case.

Toyota make good vehicles which are very reliable but only if they are kept to "toyota standards" and not toita shtandurr.

Standard doesnt mean you have it washed like a buffalo and sprayed with oil, but actually having it maintained with real toyota genuine parts being replaced exactly as toyota specify (not haath ka andaaza 20 saal tajurbaa ki waja se) - This is what the caveat is.

Making it to "toyota normal operating standard spec" requires a little bit of educated approach to the repair and also not pinching pennies in the name of "made in Afghanistan" parts. just like when redoing an injection pump do not let any jackass work on it, make sure its done by a real diesel injector lab like Denso in Karachi. The cost difference is negligible if you give them an unmolested pump, however to redo a "molested" pump back to spec will result in the cost going 10x times as much in some cases.

Its not just toyota infact, any vehicle can be maintained for good service life if you make sure its "maintained" to factory service spec.

If you are going in blind and assuming the basket case car can be revived to factory reliability by visiting 20 saal tajurbaa champions - then better to pile your cash and burn it, you can atleast enjoy some tikka out of that fire.

if you are in a B-area (non-urban location) of country Pakistan you can freely buy and use a Non_custom paid suv a Fortuner, a Pajero or Hi-Lux Surf or a Double cab truck.
huge no of such NCP vehicles are plying across Pakistan rural & northern areas without any hassle.

Problem is when you bring those vehicles in Metropolitan A areas as 7 cities of Pakistan.

if you can manage to stay off grid in KP you can NCP vehicle compounds in KPK Baluchistan to select vehicles.

Sir; Wish I could relocate to some Rural area of north but unfortunately at present I'm based in Karachi ... Such a privilege to live in such areas where one can easily afford luxury japanese machines in a very affordable pricing.

In recent past, I had surveyed NCP car markets of Swat, Mingora and other areas NCP permitted areas of KP and found that the 70 percent NCP vehicles comes from Chaman Border (Quetta) and the rest from torkham Border Peshawar, therefore Chaman is much cheaper in this regard.

However, I'm going to visit Pak wheels Auto show in Karachi to find some suitable options.

Talk to Ahmad Qaiser @ Kaizr Cruiser. He is very well entrenched in the LC world/market in Karachi. Tell him you are in the market for an LC. If he vouches for a vehicle/refers you to one, you can pay him some amount for a pre purchase inspection. Open market for these is like the Sonepur annual elephant market bro!!

Sir, a lot of the rich owners send their cars for full service as soon as they return from their villages or long tours on the recommendations of their lazy and greedy reatiners/ drivers to the service station so the vehicle will be Tayaar! Sometimes, these vehicles are not even shut off. Now with that sort of heat and straight Buffalo Bathing of the engine results in a Dead Body on ventilator (Fateh case as Murshad stated above).

After, going through the is thread there are alot of questions are popping inside my mind which would start asking from your kind self and other seniors in a while.

Sir; Thank you so much for referring me a pro of SUV field and I will definitely contact him... But prior to contact him I would like to prepare my ownself by acquiring basic level knowledge with which a newbie in SUV market should be equiped.

Furthermore, I saw seasoned SUV owners like CH Sb and a few others recommending buying a Toyota Surf rather than going for a LC 80 series, for first time old SUV buyers.

Here I would like to ask few beginner level questions:

1) Can we still get Toyota LC 80 series and Surf Brand New OEM engine and body parts from the open market or authorized dealership.

2) What kind of engine are best suited to both of the above mentioned vehicles in terms of performance, fuel economy in cities and highways, reliability, easy to maintain petrol or engine..?? especially from resale aspect.

3) For a newbie or a first time SUV owner, who is ready to spend 500k for repair and maintenance in a one go just right after buying vehicles but doesn't want to spend every weekend at workshop, which one is the most recommended machine out of both (LC 80 series or Surf 2000-2005 model).

4) Toyota LC 80 series and Surf comes in how many types of engines and which one the most loved and reason behind it ( For example 1kz, 1KD, 5FVZ and etc)

5) In your opinion, after having spent 25-30 years on Pakistani roads and jugar works man ship regime, how many LC 80 and Surf out of 10 are still deserve to be kept as long term daily commuter family vehicle.

1. Yes, but very expensive and have to source them and wait for them.
2. Petrol in LC 80 is a nightmare. Mine is 1fzfe and does not do more than 3 kms, has the torque to pull a tank. I pulled a bloody cj7 with passengers onboard both the vehicles all the way from shah noorani till Nazimabad khi. Surf 2.7 is bloody underpowered, 1 Kate diesel and 5vz 6 cylinders are good. Both don't give more than 6kmpl. Remember, SUVs of 90s ear and fuel economy are Borth & South, they can never meet. Problem with diesel here is that 99% are ruined by Ustad Heera & Moti. Rebuilding a 1hd with OEM parts by a Tier 1 outfit as mentioned in my earlier post is easily 0.7 million. They are as reliable as any sedan provided you have really worked on them end to end and have not cheated out on parts. With full load and passengers, have done KHI to O'Mara, KHI to Nathiagali, Thandiani, Abbotabad etc. Obviously I had a fuel bowzer following me.....
3. Surf, problem is you won't find a good one as those are keepers. The ones in market are butchered and overpriced. Stay away from the diesel one as the engine in the 2004-5 had injector problems. Again, 2.7 is impotent. 5vz is love. Drove a blue 2003 v6 petrol of a friend a couple of times. I was in ️
4. Diesel LC80, 1HZ, 1HD, 1HDT, 1HDFT
   Petrol, 1FZ & 1FZFE. Again depends on choice and conditions. If fuel was not an issue, the bloody 1 fzfe is silent like an assasi, built like a bull, lasts like a porn star. My dream is to own a 1HDFTE, spoke with Osama@syncview when I took my Civic X to him for AC coil replacement, last year a decent engine conversion was easily touching 1.5 million (yes the budget you initially fantasized to teach us LC80 owners a lesson). I am in LHR and jeep is in KHI, if it doesn't sell, I will get it converted from Osama to 1HDFTE.
5. Hypothetical question. It's not the vehicle which deserves to be kept but whether the owner deserves to own such magnificent fossils. Savvy??
   The best thing is to go for a body change vehicle (mostly 80 series are in fact 99% are BC), but, don't ignore docs & inspection by ACLC, Laboratory etc. Walk away from a vehicle having suspicious chassis.
   Remember, there is no such thing as a free lunch, a beautiful blind date & a free ride in a fancy car. Now ponder over my writeup and wait for my senior brethren to also chip in. By the way, the most underrated LC80 owner on pakwheels @sameerulhaq064 has done stuff with his rig which even I have not done. He is reading the thread. Get in involved (he is also pissed sour at PW and the syndicate which controls it hence has gone to the shadows like many other members. I am only here to try and fill in for @capsat to a certain extent even though he is in a league of his own.
