Suzuki swift has been awarded throughout the world many times and it is top selling small car in newzealand for 6 consecutive years(2nd overall) .

For the information of members, the facelift was only a tactic to increase the prices. It was becoming difficult for corolla to increase price without doing anything to the shape.

If you see, nothing has been added to the features. Its basically the same essential components, given a slightly different shape, making sure that the newly designed lights fit in the original frame.

Another dirty tactic by local manufacturers to raise prices to exorbitant levels. Previously they have been citing currency devaluation, and Yuan rising w.r.t PKR, but now, they didn't have any reason, so they went for this.

What you get in Pakistan are the following

ALL OF THESE CARS ARE DISCONTINUED IN THE WORLD! ALL OF THEM!

Reason why India has high Suzuki sales is because they make the new models, even local variants arent that old ... or if they are .... they are DIRT CHEAP. Not the old overpriced crap we get. And Maruti Suzuki cars are very good value for money and priced fairly, and good build quality.

I agree with you that Suzukis are excellent economy cars. But PAK SUZUKI cars are the worst thing to be called a car on the face of this world. In Pakistan id much rather spend 9 lakhs on an old Civic 2002-2004 rather than a new OLD 1990 Suzuki Swift a.k.a. Cultus with far worst build quality than that of the 1990 original.

Don't want to argue more, first of all i am not here saying that which is good and which is bad, just this argument that choice is an individual decision and if people don't buy what you think they should buy then don't label them as idiots !!!. As for suzuki they may not be making best cars in sedan and luxury category but they do make excellent small cars and the 17 year rule of their Wagon-r in Kei car over dihatsu is a testament to it. In japan their total sales have exceeded 20 million cars and you can't say all of these 20 million as fools.Your argument could have weight that they don't buy suzuki if the sales of suzuki were very below others but except toyota they are very close to honda and nissan. I think you are confusing quality of pak suzuki with global suzuki, there is hell of a difference between two.

I didn't defended pak suzuki. One clarifcation 2004,swift is not discontinued at all and is selling along with new swift model. In some markets even new swift is not launched.

re: Suzuki vs Honda/Toyota in India, Suzuki has had a tieup with Maruti when it was a public sector enterprise and therefore was able to develop a vast distribution network. Honda and Toyota arrived late to the party and they pretended to be expensive when they were not. They failed to make headway unlike Hyundai and others who catered to the mass market. Not too late, they have learnt their lesson and have started developing a new range of cars exclusive to the Indian auto market and you will see their market share go up, moving forward.

The Etios range and the Brio hatch are the beginning of these two auto companies' growth trajectory in India. Within 3 months of the launch, the Etios sedan has pushed Toyota's sales figure to 9700 in March 2011. Expect this month's figure to be higher as more Etios sedans are delivered to customers. Likewise, the Toyota Liva will push sales even further once it goes on sale in June, 2011. Unnecessary argument over nothing, really, i say.
