The only cars that are successful in our country are cheap fuel economical cars, hybrid or not we don't care.
$8,000 is a big difference to pay in the US as well, but these days you get a lot of privileges(like dedicated parking spots, higher tax rebate..things like this) in the developed countries in reducing your carbon footprint. In Pakistan carbon footprint is the last thing we worry about or we need to worry about.
In our country it is all about fuel economy...4.5 million does not make sense, especially when you can get a JDM 2011 Prius in pristine condition for 3.3 to 3.5 million.
Another thing which may hit this Prius is that in 2014 a three year old JDM Toyota Aqua(hybrid) will be available for import. It is being offered in 1500cc class and will cost around 1.9 million landed. So any one who wants to save on petrol bill will have a better option.
We also know that Toyota Corolla has been offered in 1500cc Hybrid this year in Japan, so wait for another 2 years and we will see sane looking hybrid corollas here as well.
The only thing that can make this car successful is that Indus Motors does what it does best, i.e. "Mukmukaa" give something to the people who make policies and get the ban imposed on second hand car import before Aqua and Hybrid corolla make it.
