I get mine washed with an indirect spray and not near the inverter and computer box. I stand by the service guy and direct him how to clean it. Never let them do it on their own. My frequency of washing engine is almost after two months. They usually deflect the high pressure water with hand. Avoid direct pressure.

You don't need to cover anything.
Just avoid direct pressure throw of water on engine parts like computer, sensors and inverter as the direct pressure has much more penetrating power. So reduce the water pressure from the valve and deflect the water from hand.

Mine is 100K driven from Japan and have not changed the inverter coolant.
